Home Away From Home

Barclay House B&B was our base for exploring Vancouver. It’s a stunning Victorian home.
The location was excellent - halfway between Canada Place and Stanley Park. We walked to all the attractions we wanted to see on our 3-night stay.
Our host, Dennis, was super welcoming. He even gave us the choice of upgrading our room for free due to a last minute cancellation. We stayed in the Peak Room (the attic space) which was kept cool and airy on warm afternoons by fans and open windows.
Breakfasts were new and exciting every day - will include some photos - we got to sample a breakfast bagel, strawberry waffles, and eggs, sausages and toast.
Would definitely stay again when we come back to Vancouver in the future!

Great.

Stayed in Barclsy house both on arrival in Vancouver and before we left.
Spotlessly clean and comfortable, nice breakfast and our room had a small fridge and coffee making facilities. Car parking is outside the house and Dennis is a great host.
Highly recommended and great value compared to other hotels.

Well located and quiet with no breakfast choices

Well located within easy reach of downtown, Stanley Park, Gastown and Granville Island etc. Nice quiet and leafy street. Garden room worked well for family of 3, and really appreciated the coffee machine and pods.
Know that there is no choice at breakfast (is not a buffet) - you get what you are given which is coffee/tea, some fruit, something sweet like cake or muffin, and something savoury like cheese quesadilla or ham and cheese bagel.
A bit pricey for a relatively normal B&B.

Don’t be fooled by the website

Location is fine if you can tolerate the insane Vancouver traffic.
I recommend- DO NOT BOOK THESI CALLED “best room” which is essentially the attic in summer. We were there in Late May and it was extremely hot without good cooling. The breakfast was bad on every morning not nearly up to standard of the many B&Bs I have stayed. The host? Only time I saw him was when we arrived and he chastised us for arriving shortly after 4 PM despite the instructions clearly stating check in was 4-5 PM.. I will not return and cannot recommend.

Thank you so much for the review. And apologies if the B&B did not suites to your standard. Our check in time is between 1 till 4pm. If its after 4pm. theres nobody will open the door for you coz we only works until 4pm. Its not like a hotel who has 24/7 standing at the front door. If you didn't like the breakfast, you can simply tell the waiter so that we can come up with something you love to eat. And its your right not to return to Vancouver in the future. And we will also not ask you to recommend us coz its your right. God bless and hope you have a wonderful and happy life.

Excellent Personal Service!

Our stay at Barclay House was just what we needed for our short trip to Vancouver. We slept great in the king size bed, we were happy to have our own private bathroom, sitting area (complete with micro, fridge, coffee maker and electric kettle) and parking spot! All within walking distance to downtown, Stanley Park, and lots of public transit options. Barclay Street is a lovely tree-lined street close to the beautiful Coal Harbour. Dennis has been managing this business for 20+ years and it shows - he and his team went out of their way to help us every chance they could - excellent customer service in a lovely, old-fashioned B & B. Thank you, Dennis & Kim!
