Remote, simple but quaint.

Punto Choros is a tiny fisherman village app 8 hrs north of Santiago. It's very simple and basic but you can find charm none the less. a God stop as you continue to travel up north, with one night sufficing. The lodges are fun, and my favorite part of being there. They are a version of beach front glamping. The owners are very friendly and prepare a different authentic dish per day. Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean is priceless and if you are able to dismiss any needs for luxury, room service and standard hotel luxuries you will enjoy this place. Of all the lodging available this is by far the best place. A few things to note, fish (fresh and excellent) seafood are the main dishes in the smaller shack like restaurants around town. There are no ATMs and limited ability to use credit cards. Fresh produce is also limited. As in most of chile toilet paper is placed in the trash, and all litter is severely prohibited. Bring your own snacks, wine, some candles, low music and cuddle up to a calming ocean side view. Good for family bonding, romance and that feeling of being away from civilization.

Very disappointing

These domes are really tired. The communal areas are filthy dirty and we felt very uncomfortable eating breakfast.
There is no wifi and the manager spoke no English. We managed to explain that we wanted to go on a boat but no help was provided to help us to contact anyone locally so we ended up driving 27km to Chanaral and then back. No one was prepared to take their boat out and so we stayed in this region for no good reason, no boat, no penguins, no sea otters or orca. Really disappointed.

Very unfriendly staff

I asked to see the rooms, but the staff told us we could see it only from outside! For the price of 100 USD (other options were in the range of 40-60 USD) I wanted to make sure it was worth it... Defintively not worth it, considering the attitude of the staff!

Beautiful location. Domes look cool but lack some practicality.

The location is nice and beautiful and a lovely place to stay. You're in quite a remote location in chile and go prepared. It has a nice quincho (BBQ) area. Plenty of stuff to do for kids once their imagination is ingnited.
As to the domes. I am not sure I would stay in them again. They're cool looking but lack practicality you would get from a wooden cabaña. Kitchen is a microwave and sink and tiny fridge. Weirdly it has satellite tv. Something we didn't need.
We went on boat trip to look at nearby island. This trip on the day we took it, winter, is for sea dogs. People who know they don't get sea sick. Of our party of six only two weren't effected. That said it was a cool excursion. Otters. Penguins. Sea lions and various birds. Sadly no whales or dolphins.

Iglues en la Playa...

Por recomendacion de la prima de mi esposo, mi familia y yo visitamos este lugar en uno de nuestros viajes a Chile.
El lugar tiene una vista privilegiada, exelente atencion, los domos son muy comodos, el desayuno que prepara doña Anita es delicioso.
Pasamos un fin de semana super relajados.
Caminamos a la playa, donde los ninos tuvieron la oportunidad de meterce al agua y divertirse un buen rato.
Fue un fin de semana desconectados del ruido de la ciudad y conectados con toda la naturaleza que ofrece esa area.
Muchas gracia a doña Anita y don Luis son excelentes anfitriones. Lo recomiendo!
