It is a lovely old fashioned place, the very kind that my father liked to stay in 70 or more years ago! Very comfortable and welcoming.
Very enjoyable, but the slow hot water in the morning was not the best !

Very good for what it is

This isn't a full-service hotel, but provides simple, clean accommodations and breakfast at somewhat reasonable rates. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and were definitely the highlight.
The hotel is a large converted home with small rooms that have no outside-facing windows, but which open to the central halls. If the place were full there would be very little privacy, but when we were there last weekend (23-24 July 2016) there were only two other rooms occupied, so it was very quiet. Rooms are small but functional, with cable TV, WiFi (which didn't work in our room but was good in the lobby), and an en-suite bathroom. Very clean, but with some signs of wear. Kind of Mom-and-Pop - they say on the website that they provide shampoo, but when we asked for it we were told that they were out until the delivery on Monday, so they sent up a bottle left by previous guests.
For an overnight getaway like ours it was good for the price (CLP 48,500 or US$75). Great for those looking for something more than a hostel but not in need of the comforts of a larger property with more services.

Wouldn't stay here again

Stayed 2 nights. When arrived no offer of breakfast, given room. Room small double bed, table, TV and Free WIFI. Shower small didn't use. Breakfast was sparse and controlled by server. Gave 1 bun and 1 piece cheese and meat, and only 1 CUP OF COFFEE or TEA. The hotel is quant with open courtyard and seating, reception and lounge area. Near main tourist area. Staff in reception and breakfast not very friendly.

Great location but needs updating

The hotel is in an excellent location within La Serena however the rooms are in need of renovation. I found the bed comfortable and the room had a heater however the bathroom was cold and had a damp smell to it. The rooms face on to an open courtyard, which I imagine is very nice in summer, but means that in winter the room is effectively open to the outside with little insulation between. There is also an issue with noise from inside and outside the hotel. On the positive side I found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly.

average hotel, good location, got locked out of my room for 2 hours

This hotel is average quality, there is no wifi in the rooms. but the beds are nice and bathrooms are ok. The location to the old town is very good but I got locked out of my room at 7am in the middle of winter just wearing at tshirt. and for 2 hours they couldnt open the door and didnt offer me another room or a blanket. In the end they had to smash a window. Also the rooms are onto a court yard which can get noisy.
The woman on reception was very good at helping us book a restaurant even though we couldn't speak spanish.

Very good location
