Wonderful Stay at Hostal Sonchek – Highly Recommend!
We had a great experience staying at Hostal Sonchek in San Pedro de Atacama and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
The hostel was clean, comfortable, and felt very safe throughout our stay. The common spaces were perfect for relaxing or meeting other travelers, and everything was well-maintained.
The location is ideal — close to the town center but still quiet enough to get a good night’s sleep. The staff were friendly and helpful, always happy to assist with anything we needed.
A great base for exploring the Atacama Desert. We’d definitely stay here again!

Hostal Sonchek...Worth returning to.
I spent 4 nights here in May of this year 2025.It was very enjoyable....Location was perfect...a short walk to the main plaza....The room was clean and sleep quality was excellent....The owner Maria Florencia was so kind and helpful....Before I arrived she offered advice on transport from Calama airport to San Pedro...And while I was in San Pedro she organised a taxi for me to take me to the bus station early on the morning I was leaving as well as giving a lot of information on getting to Iquique....Nearby are several cafes and restaurants....This is a lovely place to stay when in San Pedro de Atacama...Definitely worth returning to...Top marks 10 out of 10.

Special & wonderful
This is one of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed. The atmosphere is really calm and quiet, the communal areas are lovely, and the staff just so nice.
The staff made a huge effort to communicate with us, despite our lack of Spanish, and helped us work out how to do things in the local area. They also were extremely kind and helpful when one of my children was suffering badly from altitude sickness.

Hostel very well located and speaking French!!!
Many thanks to Moses for welcoming me when I was lost without reservation. Quiet area close to the center. Comfortable secure accommodation with garden furniture. No breakfast but coffee and tea available in the shared kitchen. Good advice for tour agency and departure help in very good French. I highly recommend!!!!

Great stay
Very pleasant and nice hostel. Perfect location. The owner is very nice and very accommodating, always happy to help.
Warning: if you ask her about a car rental and she suggests Rental Car, book your car somewhere else (e.g. West Rent). The guy from the car rental company just wanted to relieve us of our money and made up problems that didn't even exist.
