Very good hotel

The hotel is in a building who is almost 100 years. Spacious rooms and wood-floor. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They received me very well and helped me with practical things. Castillo also has a very good location located near Cerro San Cristobal, other attracions to see and a lot of restaurants and bars. It is a good spanish restaurant in the building too. I only have good memories from my stay here.

If can't find anything else, it is OK

This is a very old building as well as the furniture, sheets, blankets and basically all there. Service is too basic and one desk lady was very unkind, other service people was fine enough. This is not a first option hotel, but if you can not find anything else, which was my case, it can works for a night or untill you get another one.

Near San Cristobal Hill

And near to the students`restaurants and near to a nice market where you can by a lot of tourist`s staff. But at night you won`t sleep by the noise of the diskotheque and the party-people. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Choose a quality hotel, not this poor excuse for one

We stayed here for 2 nights and I have to say the only positive thing about the place is the proximity to San Cristobel Hill, which the entrance to, is literally to the left of the front door. Oh, yes, there is a santander cash dispenser outside of the place too, which is handy. This is your classic case of ´window dressing to hide a shabby interior´ sort of place, as when you look at the pictures of the hotel from outside, you could be forgiven by thinking it would be a nice choice for low cost accommodation when in fact it is a nightmare of a place.
The staff were disinterested in providing any kind of service to guests and were at pains to even provide you with breakfast in the morning yet alone anything else. We barely got a slice of toast each and a cup of coffee. They speak hardly any english.
It is very noisy in the hotel, both inside and out; you can hear the reception staff cackling downstairs late in to the night, that and their radios playing and the horrendous traffic noise outside is almost unbearable; this is before you start to concentrate on the noise from the barking dogs outside which lasts all night long. The rooms are basic and are what I would describe as third world. In addition, the shower is dangerous to step in to which is a cause for concern.
Even though I had a rate from our booking agency for a total price for the stay, the receptionist tried to charge me the rate twice for us as there were 2 of us. She tried to get away with it by her poor command of the english language and I had to stick my neck out to prove to her that I was to pay the rate I had on my sheet!
It is not a hotel for international travellers and I would strongly recommend that you look elsewhere for your accommodation.
