Great hotel

The manager, Danny Gao went out of his way to drive my son and I to our bus transportation on the other side if the city. Without Danny's help. we would have missed our cruise from Tianjin Great hotel, friendly staff and clean, well appointed rooms

Old, run-down and smelled of smoke

We had a last minute business trip to Beijing, so by the time we booked, there were no hotels left within our price range and we had to stay in the Royal Phoenix hotel. The only good thing to say about it is its location, which is in an atmospheric hutong area with bars and restaurants nearby.
The rooms were very old, dated, not well maintained (mold on the walls, peeling wallpaper, the works...), and smelled strongly of smoke. We realized that in many of the neighboring rooms, the guests were smoking like chimneys and the insulation of each room wasn't really good, so smoke was creeping into our room too. It smelled terrible the entire night and clearly the hotel doesn't enforce the no-smoking policy. Breakfast was very basic, the usual fare for low-end hotels (although our room wasn't cheap!).
I would not stay here again if possible. There are other options on the main road close by (like Juzi) that are newer, cleaner and about in the same price range.

Pleasant hotel but won't refund our security deposit

We stayed in the royal phoenix twice during a stay in China- we essentially checked in twice so each time had to pay a security deposit. That was fine until here we are with no deposit back even though they said it was processed, won't reply to emails (that I have sent via a translator) and no one speaks English. It's over 150 pounds of ours they have. Does anyone have an email address for them other than fdhsales? Thanks

Good Hotel in area of Beijing close to downtown

Good clean Hotel, does require some updating, rooms very well furnished, staff Fluency in English not that good, Breakfast is mostly of Chinese dishes but good, WiFi not that reliable, close to Sub-way & ground Transport.

Horrible hotel

Husband and I stayed at this hotel was a huge mistake! The shower drain was blocked, asked the hotel to fix it 3 times and it was still the same! Asked to change the room and they told us that it was not available! Bath room door was broken ish! Walls were too thin, we could hear children running outside our hotel room, next door closing their door and people talking, etc!We decided to stay in Beijing a bit longer, I asked the reception if we could extent our stay for 2 more nights(purely for convenience instead of looking/moving hotel) but in the different room, the hotel told us we must book it online or it would cost almost double, (it still cost more than before) changing room was not available and one night had to book it for the higher rate room! No any extra services were available in this hotel too, I.e: train ticket purchase, Beijing map/subway map, travel information etc! Wifi is only working sometimes and that depended on how many guests in the hotel! The reception told my husband in broken English that wifi was not working due to "bad weather"! I didn't think anyone classified 16 degree with sunshine would be "bad weather"! the wifi came on when we went to hotel lobby , so I guess the "bad weather" is only in the hotel room lol!!!
