As per Colombia's tax laws Foreign visitors and Colombian citizens currently living outside Colombia are tax-exempt (19% VAT) when receive a PIP3, PIP5, PIP6, PIP10, TP7, TP11 stamp or TP12 visa upon entry to the country. Exemption only applies to room package rates (accommodation plus service). Permit must be shown upon arrival. This tax is not automatically calculated in the total cost of the reservation. Underage should present valid ID card at the moment of check in. Please note that every minor must be accompanied by their identified parents or legal guardian. MINORS POLICY Minors must always be accompanied by an adult relative, in development of the provisions of Article 17 of Law 679 of 2001, the agency warns the tourist that the exploitation and sexual abuse of minors in the country are criminally and administratively punishable under Colombian law. All minors must present a valid identification document to check in at the Hotel (the documents accepted by the Hotel may vary in each case, but usually identity cards, passports and civil registries are accepted). In the event that the minor is not in the company of his/her parents during his/her stay, at the time of check-in, he/she must present his/her identification (identity card, passport and/or civil registry), a copy of his/her parents' identification and a letter of authorization signed and authenticated must be notarized or apostilled by both parents, expressly authorizing the adult present with the minor to check him/her in at the Hotel. This authorization must be original and must include: ● The minor’s full name and identification number. ● The full name and identification number of the person with whom the minor will be staying. ● The minor’s check-in and check-out dates at the hotel. ● The full name of the hotel. ● The full names and identification numbers of both parents or the legal guardian signing the authorization. ● The authorization must be signed by both parents of the minor, except in cases where one parent has passed away or where only one parent has sole custody. If one parent has passed away, a death certificate must be provided. In the event that both parents are deceased, the authorization must be signed, in accordance with the law, by the legal representative, the minor’s guardian, or the ICBF. If parental authority is held by only one parent, a duly executed copy of the court ruling must be provided. Adopted minors must present a duly executed copy of the adoption ruling. When parents are in conflict and cannot sign jointly, a permit issued by a Family Court Judge must be provided. If the authorization is granted by public deed, a copy of it must be presented along with certification of its validity. ● In the case of Colombian minors, the authorization must be notarized by both parents to ensure that the permission is legitimate and has their formal consent. ● The authorization must be accompanied by copies of both parents’ identification documents, and a copy of the minor’s birth certificate (for Colombian nationals) or an equivalent document proving the relationship (for foreign nationals). Nothing in these terms and conditions modifies the immigration requirements of the country, nor the duties that must be legally complied with to carry out such procedures (such as formalities of the exit permit or similar before the corresponding authorities). In the event that the legal care of the minor is not in the hands of his/her parents, sufficient proof of this must be presented to the Hotel. In such a case, the letter of authorization must be signed by the parents. The Hotel may deny entry and registration of persons or groups seeking such entry or registration including a minor and when the documentary requirements set forth herein have not been complied with.
