Well located in the city with a large kitchen and several hammocks to relax.
I was in a 6-bed dorm with air conditioning. Except for the fact that the sink was outside the bathroom, I have nothing to say. There were several hammocks and chairs to relax. The kitchen was great. The hostel is well located just a few blocks from the bus stop. I'll go back!

Shame about the Managers appalling behaviour
Absolutely appalling customer service – avoid.
In over 10 months of travelling the world and 40 years travelling, staying in countless accommodations, I have never felt compelled to leave a review like this. Unfortunately, this experience deserves one.
When we arrived, we were allocated a room that did not match our booking and had no air conditioning. We specifically chose this property because the Agoda listing clearly stated that all rooms include air conditioning. A room with only a fan was never an option when we booked.
Rather than acknowledging the mistake or even offering a simple apology, the manager became defensive from the outset. During a phone call, he repeatedly shouted over me, refused to let me explain the issue, and showed no willingness whatsoever to resolve the situation.
Things only became worse after I contacted Agoda. Instead of working towards a solution, the manager continued arguing through the Agoda messaging platform, refused to accept the booking confirmation and listing evidence I provided multiple times, and insisted that I had booked a room with only a fan—even though the Agoda listing clearly stated otherwise.
His behaviour then became completely unprofessional. Rather than communicating respectfully, he resorted to personal insults, calling me a “keyboard warrior” (he started the chat advising me I was wrong after I terminated a phone call due to him shouting at me) before telling me to “take it up with Agoda.”
Thankfully, Agoda reviewed the situation independently and agreed with our complaint, issuing us a full refund after the property failed to cooperate with them as well.
This entire situation could have been resolved with a simple acknowledgement of the mistake and just an apology. Instead, it escalated because of arrogance, denial, and shockingly poor customer service.
I have never before felt the need to leave a negative review, but I genuinely believe future travellers should be aware of how guests are treated when something goes wrong. No traveller/customer should expect to be spoken to or treated this way.
Accommodation mistakes can happen. What defines a business is how they respond. Sadly, this property’s response was one of the worst examples of customer service we have ever experienced.
Avoid if you value professionalism, accountability, general human courtesy and respectful treatment as a guest.

Not what I expected.
The hostel is quaint. Our room was two singles in a small room. The bathroom was across the hall, which was ok, with the shower in its separate room next to it. The place was clean but the description was I think a little misleading. The bed was ok. I guess you get what you pay for.

Good vibes, horrific management
good vibes, mean and incompetent management. Do not leave things in storage here. Only costs 1$/d/item but the manager (?) will lie to you about when he will be back, and give you a hard time for wanting to have your stuff back before you leave the country. They dont even mark what belongs to who (the guy berated me over the phone because I could not adequately describe the box that belonged to me) and also dont keep track of whether or not youve paid, so I had to pay twice. If you are just looking for a place to stay for the night, this place is okay, but I will not be coming back.

Thank you for your review. We are glad you found the hostel to have good vibes. As for storage, we request all guests who choose paid secure storage to label their items. The hostel does not ask for payment for storage until the guest returns. The hostel uses a PMS (property management system) to track all reservations and payments. Pura vida!

Peaceful Oasis in the City.
The hostel is very peaceful considering it is in a bustling city (which makes it easy to catch public transport to anywhere). The hammocks and shared kitchen are a fun place to hang out - very casual atmosphere. The owners are really friendly and knowledgable - they stored our bike boxes for us while we traveled around Costa Rica. Good place to go for info and a community feeling atmosphere.
