fantastic bed and breakfast style hotel

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Zuco for four nights on our honeymoon (Early June 2004). It is a small hotel (around 20 rooms) run by a local family. The building is only a few years old and the room that we had was very nicely decorated and equipped (and VERY clean). A few specifics: First, the staff was VERY friendly and helpful, making sure that our travel arrangements were in order and booking English language tours for us. Second, the restaurant in the hotel served amazing home cooked dinners with lots of local recipes. Third, the town of Biograd itself is quite nice and relaxing. While there is not very much to see in the town itself, it is a very short distance from Zadar, Kornati Islands, and Krka national park. My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay and would gladly stay there again.

Toilets and food

Breakfast is based on eggs swimming in oil followed by cheep marmalade. This is altogether typical for Croatian tourism except on other places one can have salami also. Toilets are destroyed and dirty so room smells on moisture.

The worst hotel in my life

We had a reservation forint a week, but fortunetly we didn't pay before arrival. This is nőt a 3 star hotel and this is not a hotel! The rooms need renovation. At the breakfast there wasn't tea, juice was attenuated with water.The dinner was salty. We stay just one night and we check out and search another accomodation (it was wonderful). Biograd is just a name. It is homely! If it would have been the first time that we go to Croatia, we never go back!

Raubte uns den letzten Nerv

Am ersten Tag war die Toilette mit eingetrockneten Urinflecken versehen. Man fragt freundlich nach, ob das noch gemacht werden kann und ein sauber machen wurde uns verweigert, auch Putzmittel zum selber putzen mussten wir uns erst in einer langen Diskussion darüber, dass wir das nicht nur mit Wasser putzen können, erkämpfen. Es wurde versucht uns zu erklären, dass hier Toiletten nur mit Wasser geputzt werden würden, und keine Chemikalien an die Toilette kommen würden. Des weiteren wurde uns versucht zu erklären diese Flecken wären kein Dreck sondern die Tolette würde einfach so aussehen.
So ging es den ganzen Urlaub weiter. Als wir beispielsweise Klopapier brauchten, kamen vom Personal Fragen wie warum wir es bräuchten, warum wir nicht früher gefragt hätten, warum wir nicht in der Früh kommen, dabei saß der verantwortliche Herr nur draußen mit seinem Handy auf der Terasse. Nach erneuten Diskussionen stand der Herr doch noch widerwillig auf und brauchte uns Toilettenpapier, welches für ihn ein paar Schritte entfernt war.
So ging es den ganzen Urlaub weiter, ich bin erschrocken, zur Verabschiedung wurde uns von der Frau des Besitzers noch vorgeworfen dass es respektlos von uns gewesen wäre, beim Essen immer deutsch gesprochen zu haben, wobei mein Kroatisch gerade mal für das Notwendigste ausreicht, und ich komplexere Gespräche garnicht auf kroatisch führen könnte.
Es gibt im Hotel Wlan, welches kostenlos ist, wobei der Empfang dauernd verloren geht. Mit dem Essen an sich waren wir sehr zufrieden.
Zusammengefasst kann ich jedem von diesem Hotel abraten. Ich habe mich absolut unwohl gefühlt.
