Unsuitable for seniorem / disabled.
- Guesthouse very laborious and difficult to reach via large number of stairs, moreover without handrail. With suitcases hardly doable!
- No tap and sink in the room.
- For showering, toilet, getting water and throwing away dishwater you have to go to one floor below.
- Beds: on the bed I sank through the slatted frame. Mattresses not nice either, getting up every morning with back pain.
- Toilet seat too small for toilet and was also loose.
- Shower curtain hung outside the (cramped) shower room so water ran into the rest of the bathroom.
- You have to bring waste yourself about 150 meters from Guesthouse: stairs down / stairs again.
- Breakfast reasonable

This place has its ups and downs - and apparently no sense for security
For exploring the City Walls, the old buildings and the history of Dubrovnik, the location of “Blue Wave” is just perfect. The apartment complex (several rented rooms in the building) is right in the middle of the Old Town, one minute away from the busy Stradum. However, the nights are pretty calm and we never heard any noise from the street. The apartment features A/C, a small fridge and hot water. The room was too big but that’s not what you’re looking for when you’re on a city trip. The upper staircase in the apartment was covered with a blanket since some construction work seemed to go on behind there (at least not during our stay).
Since we arrived early on the first day, we asked to store our luggage and were referred to a nearby restaurant (“Mama’s Pot Tavern”). We were given a voucher that included free luggage storage after the consumption of anything from the menu. The restaurant is relatively cheap for Dubvrovnik standards so we decided to have breakfast and to store our stuff.
Later we were texted to our mobiles that the apartment was ready for check-in and here the troubles began. And that’s also the reason why I only gave 2-out-of-5 stars in the rating. Nothing really to complain about the apartment and its facilities - it’s the missing sense of responsibility of the involved personnel and a clear lack of safety concern that made us angry.
During check-in we got our room keys though but not an own key for the front door. The boy who checked us in explained that they didn’t have a spare key (which would have cost the landlord only a couple of bucks) and that we have to share the key with the other guests. To do so, it was hidden in a spot close to the front door. Despite the fact that this is not generally the safest place to store a key, we were facing a real problem when we checked out. The front door was locked (it was supposed to be closed but not locked) and the key was outside in its hiding spot. Another guest (who surprisingly had her own front door key) had locked the door in the awareness that every guest has an own key. We couldn’t leave the apartment and had to call the landlord who at first was either unwilling or unable to understand the issue. In his case we just almost missed our ferry to Korčula but Image what could have happened if we tried to escape a burning building? Trapped in your own apartment since the landlord is too stingy to invest some Kunas in another key for the door. Worst part was the arrogant response on the phone, telling us that he did not get why we have a problem with that...

Super Apartment in Toplage
