Niche boutique hotel

This place has something special, we manager to relax on our first day. Is a niche boutique hotel, for the ones appreciating the old buildings. Also, the magic made by the owner for the guests to have a 21 th century experience.
We engoy our stay and we plan to be back in the nearest future.

Be careful when looking closely

The staff , especially the lady at the reception, is wonderful .the lady offered me a spontaneous head massage and was warm and adorable . as I was unwell in health , I asked for the possibility to leave early , which of course allowed .She offered us to stay still in the room and park ... the owner however was tough on this point and asked us quite clearly to check out . He was scary to me overall , he paints very special and has an air that I did not like as a very sensitive person.
And he recommended us a restaurant that really ripped us off .Restaurant Knezgrad in Lovran. The waiter there enthusiastically told us about Ernst Wolff, a dangerous anti-Semite and we paid 55 euros for a mini fish.
Dont go there ..!!!
The villa itself is of course beautiful , but through the painting of the owner the beauty inside is lost and when we found the guest's shoes in front of us under the chair , we were already very surprised ...
Our room was yellow and a huge picture along with really bad curtains destroyed the grace of the old room here too.
I would conclude by saying : Sleep there if you don't necessarily want to look behind the curtain in the basement and under the bed and if you are stubborn in terms of vibrations .. otherwise we would rather not advise .

Careful!

We had a weird evening at this place . Not the hotel, but the restaurant. He told us that he doesn’t run the restaurant anymore, but for us he would make a exception. We had to choose between two menus and that was it. He asked us to pay cash. When we dared asking about the price he told us 300 kuna, per person. In the end we paid 950 kuna, because apparently the wine was not included.
The meal was definitely not worth the price, rather simple, but ok.
The entire thing was a bit strange…. And disappointing. But could have been beautiful!

wonderful charming villa next to the ocean

Astra is a small historic villa (built 1905) with 8 rooms, most of them with sea view resp facing the ocean. The whole atmosphere is relaxing, charming and the staff absolutely fantastic being multi-lingual (all of them fluent in english, german, italian, croatian), overwhelmingly friendly, charming and always giving their absolutely best comforting us!!
the little garden between the villa and the ocean automatically lets you relax and fall into vacation mode. The busy road is not directly in front of the door, you will hardly hear the traffic once you sit at the pool or the garden. The villa itself has a little rustic charme but modern, clean and decorated with a lot of passion for the details.
Location could not be more perfect, just a 5-10 walk along the rocky beach to the small village of Lovran or a 30min walk to Opatija (or 5min taxi ride).
Can't find anything bad about this place except maybe the lounge chairs which they have plenty of (thank god, no chair reserving in the morning!!) but could be replaced some time soon.
We will definitely come back again!
