Magnificent hotel perfectly integrated into nature
We were housed in the annex with a sea view, which is magnificent. The rooms were very well maintained during our stay, and the housekeepers were respectful of our privacy, making as little noise as possible in the morning.
The site is very clean, which encourages people to respect the premises.
Regarding the beach, the beach attendants are truly very attentive and always have a cordial word for us, while being uncompromising about the payment we made every day (10€ for the lounge chair and 8€ for the umbrella); otherwise, you have the same service for free at the pool, but I wish you good luck with that.
The umbrellas could be of better quality because they are not thick enough for UV rays, but the lounge chairs are perfect.
A small detail: Bring beach shoes because there are pebbles, but there is sand in the sea.
We were on a half-board plan; the breakfast and dinner were of high quality due to the variety and quality of the dishes. Even at the end of service, there is enough choice left to eat, and that is quite rare. The waiters and waitresses are very professional and are attentive to your every request.
A small, important detail: drinks (even water) are not free.
The improvements I would make for it to be perfect according to my criteria:
- Wristbands for hotel guests to monitor hotel guests at the pool and in the hotel
- Better distribution of rooms by avoiding putting groups of friends in the middle of families or couples so that everyone can do as they wish without disturbing the others.
- Changing beach towels only once a week because some people abuse it every day.
- Implement a late checkout (max 3 p.m.) for an additional fee for vacationers who leave late in the day (this is done in some large hotels)
The most important thing is that the site is on a mountainside with many steps and is therefore not suitable for people with reduced mobility or who have trouble getting around (see photo).
We had a wonderful stay in a high-quality hotel surrounded by vegetation and very well-maintained gardens overlooking the sea, and above all, the management took good note of my reviews by automatically responding to my requests.

Lovely couples holiday!
It is an ideal location for exploring Dubrovnik and nearby areas. We spent a day in Dubrovnik old town( £7-8 each way in a uber) and also booked a day trip to Bosnia (Kravica Waterfalls and the city of Mostar) via GetYourGuide. Plenty of little shops and restaurants nearby, we particularly enjoyed the oleander bistro, basilica pizzeria and flamingo restaurant up on the main road. 10 minute drive away is a Lidl, were we went for snacky bits and drinks to fill our fridge.
We were booked as half board (breakfast and tea) however we only at breakfast in the hotel restaurant as evening meal wasn’t great, choice was very limited, but breakfast was great.
Pool is lovely and so refreshing after the heat of the day. Sunbeds can be a bit of a battle as many seem to reserve beds early in the morning and often leave the hotel anyway. Although we always managed to get a bed by midday if not before. Beds are comfortable too! Beds and parasols on beach are €10 a bed and I think €8 for a parasol.
Sea is beautiful, so clear, and relatively warm too. Although rocky and pebble beaches rather than sand, so you might want to consider sea shoes.
No entertainment at the hotel, which initially we was a bit disappointed in but we enjoyed walking around the local area on an evening anyway.
Overall we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, the scenery is beautiful, hotel very clean, staff all friendly and accommodating, the only let down really is the evening meal, but again, I understand certain things aren’t for everyone.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your stay with us. We are delighted to hear that you had a lovely couples' holiday and that you enjoyed our beautiful location, the cleanliness of the hotel, and the friendliness of our team. Your kind comments mean a great deal to us.
We are pleased that you found our hotel to be a convenient base for exploring Dubrovnik and the surrounding area, and that you enjoyed the nearby restaurants and attractions. It is also wonderful to know that you appreciated our breakfast, the pool, and the crystal-clear sea.
Thank you as well for sharing your constructive feedback. We are sorry that our evening buffet did not fully meet your expectations. We continuously review our menu selection and value comments such as yours as they help us improve our dining experience.
We also understand your observations regarding the availability of sun loungers during the busiest summer period. We kindly encourage guests not to reserve loungers when they are not in use so that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the pool area. As you mentioned, the sun loungers and umbrellas on the beach are managed by an independent concessionaire, and their prices are set by them.
We truly appreciate your recommendation and your balanced feedback. It was a pleasure to have you as our guests, and we hope to welcome you back for another relaxing stay in the future.
Kind regards,
Hotel Astarea Team

Location stunning. Issues with stay
On arrival after a delayed flight we asked was there anywhere to get food but we told no so we went to bed hungry on our 1st night. Maybe install a vending machine.
The room was the smallest we’d ever stayed in more a single occupant room. No storage but for 1 small wardrobe so we lived out of our cases the whole time.
We found all reception staff not very friendly and never smiling.
We asked could we keep our room on for the last day as we had a 9 hour wait for our pick up, a blunt, no check out is 10am. no courtesy room to change in and cannot use facilities ie pool etc.
She sarcastically said the beach is free.
I feel the manager needs to train his staff in customer service.
However, We did love Croatia and will probably come back but not to the Astarea unfortunately.

Great hotel, just dont book half board.
The evening meal is the typical buffet style set up which is pretty standard in most hotels of this type these days. They can be repetitive but generally the standard is okay.
Not this time unfortunately.
The food was bad.
Very very bad.
Laughable bad.
The kids pizza was wet…
The “hot” food was cold
The deserts were still frozen
Much of the “hot” food was unidentifiable.
The hotel has 2 other restaurants on site which aren’t included in the half board deal. They were great!
Breakfast was great!
The staff were lovely
The pool area was fantastic
Mlini and srenreno are beautiful
Just don’t book half board.
Seriously!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
We are sorry to hear that the dinner experience did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to clarify that the description in your review does not reflect the standard we generally strive to maintain or the feedback we regularly receive from our guests.
Our buffet selection is prepared fresh and replenished throughout the evening, with attention given to both quality and presentation. Nevertheless, we take your comments regarding the temperature and preparation of certain dishes seriously and will review them with our restaurant and kitchen teams.
We regret that the half-board experience was disappointing for you, but we also believe it is important to consider that individual expectations and experiences can differ. We remain committed to continuously improving our service and ensuring that our guests enjoy a pleasant dining experience.
Thank you again for your feedback.
Kind regards,

Good location and comfortable hotel.
Uber to Dubrovnik and cavtat reasonable - much cheaper than a taxi. Water taxi is an option but works out quite expensive for a family.
We had annex rooms with sea views which were fine. Walk to main building not too far at all. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
Pool area is quite small but sunbeds were generally available up to around 10 am and even after that there always seemed to be one or two free. The sea is lovely and clear but beach shoes definitely help with the pebbles and rocks. Beach beds and umbrella quite expensive.
Indoor pool is lovely and perfect for swimming lengths - it was always quiet when we went in. Seemed odd to us that the indoor pool was so much bigger than the outdoor, ‘main’ pool.
Overall we loved the area and took advantage of the many things to do in and around Dubrovnik. The hotel served as a good base for us.

Thank you very much for sharing your detailed feedback following your stay with us.
We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed our location and found the hotel to be a convenient base for exploring Mlini, Srebreno, Dubrovnik, Cavtat and the surrounding area. It is also great to know that you were happy with your annex room, the sea view, and the cleanliness and comfort of the accommodation.
We are pleased that you enjoyed our indoor pool and found it to be a peaceful place for swimming. We also appreciate your comments regarding the outdoor pool area. As you experienced, our location allows guests to enjoy not only the hotel pools but also the beautiful Adriatic Sea just a short walk away.
Thank you as well for mentioning the breakfast. We understand that the restaurant can become busier after 9:00 am, particularly during the peak summer period, and we appreciate your feedback. We will certainly take this into consideration as we continue looking for ways to improve our guests' experience.
We are very happy to hear that you loved the area and made the most of the many activities and attractions around Dubrovnik. It was a pleasure to have you as our guests, and we hope to welcome you back to Mlini and our hotel in the future.
