Nice stay in a modern hotel near Willemstad center
Our stay in Curaçao at Courtyard by Mariott was very good. Near Willemstad (+/-1km walking). In the immediate vicinity was not much; an ice cream shop and coffee bar. However, the hotel was a stone's throw from the harbor (overlooking cruise ships) and Renaissance; a mall with free parking and behind it the old Fort with restaurants, souvenir shops and an ice cream shop. From the Fort you walked straight back to the Handelskade of Willemstad.
The hotel was very modern and clean, even the corridors smelled nice when the cleaning had been. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms had good beds, a large TV screen and good air conditioning. Cabinet with a mini fridge, safe and coffee maker. A spacious bathroom with a nice shower. We always prefer to stay in a room with a balcony (in a warm destination), but because of the extra costs this time not done. Despite the fact that fortunately we always know how to dry our swimwear quickly.
Lovely pool and jacuzzi, also plenty of space in sun and shade every day. Housekeeping friendly, only they arrived every day at a very different time for cleaning. We didn’t use this every day, but as soon as we did it was a bit annoying that we didn’t know what time to expect them. Also good that there is a label to reuse towels (if they were hung), only they were replaced every time. Bit of a waste of (extra) laundry.
As far as we are concerned, highly recommended.

Worst hotel service ever.
Maybe a good choice if you are only staying for business. But around the pool is horrible. Only 1 person dealing with kitchen, drinks and serving. For me this is management mistake. 1 person wont be able to help all at the same time. This is buring out 1 person. Sorry but wont stay here. There are other options nearby.

Outstanding Property and Front Desk Staff—Let Down by Management's Attitude
Having heard great things about this property, I jumped at the opportunity to try it out on a room only stay. My primary goal was a familiarization visit, a standard process I undertake with many properties to evaluate options for my clients.
* **Arrival & First Impressions:** The entrance felt like a breath of fresh air, and the lobby smelled wonderful.
* **Front Desk Staff:** Check-in was an absolute pleasure. The gentleman at the desk was exceptionally kind, courteous and welcoming.
**Rooms & Comfort:** The corridors and rooms felt brand new, cozy and most importantly, spotless. The bed was extremely comfortable and the quiet atmosphere made for a restful sleep. The floor-to-ceiling windows offered a nice view of the mangrove on the western side.
**Areas for Improvement**
**Window Coverings:** As someone who prefers a completely dark room, I found the morning light overwhelming. Despite adjusting the curtains, I couldn't block it out. Installing blackout roller blinds would be a fantastic investment to improve sleep quality for guests.
**Management & Customer Experience**
Unfortunately, the stay was heavily marred by the front desk manager.
When I asked to introduce myself to the manager to discuss bringing guests in the following week and request adjacent room placement, The moment I mentioned booking through a B2B travel partner, her demeanor immediately shifted. She met me with a frown and an overall unpleasant, nonchalant and unhelpful attitude, causing me to wrap up the conversation early.
On checkout day, after previously being told a late checkout might be possible for a fee, I was informed by another staff member the morning of, that the hotel was completely full. As a travel professional, I could easily see multiple room types available across various booking platforms at that very moment. To make matters worse, the manager sat nearby with the same dreary, welcoming-of-none demeanor.
**Final Verdict**
This property has incredible potential, beautiful modern rooms and fantastic staff. The pool area was very clean and the environment allowed for total relaxation. However, the management team failed to set a positive standard. The front desk leadership desperately needs a refresher in basic hospitality and an attitude adjustment to match the high quality of the hotel itself.
