Great hotel. Resort ? ? The jury is out

A lovely hotel with really friendly staff. The facilities were perfect from the clean air conditioned room, clean pool and surroundings and roof top bar on an evening. We were bed and breakfast and have to say you are spoilt for choice from cooked breakfast, omelette, fruits, yogurt, toast, jams honey etc. you will not go hungry.
Down side is the resort itself and the distance to walk from the hotel to the harbour. The harbour is pleasant but nothing special, bars and restaurants are spaced out and in between there’s a lot of vacant premises. We hired 2 quads for the 14 days and it was great. We have been everywhere around Paphos. Car hire or some form of rental is a must but not for everyone. Would I come back? To this hotel yes but Paphos is a seen it done that resort but certainly not the worst we have stayed at.

Disappointing experience for a repeat visitor

Overall, the aesthetics of the hotel are very good, and our room was excellent. Our cleaner was also lovely and did a fantastic job throughout our stay, so credit where it’s due.
Unfortunately, there were several areas of concern which really impacted our experience.
The pool and surrounding pool area were looking quite dirty, and the pool itself was noticeably murky. For a hotel that presents itself as a luxury boutique property, this was disappointing.
The biggest issue, however, was the number of non-residents being allowed to use the pool area. The situation felt completely out of control at times. Some non-residents showed very little respect for the facilities, created mess and would take over multiple sunbeds, leaving paying hotel guests with nowhere to sit.
We witnessed people reserving four or five sunbeds and then having friends join them who were also not staying at the hotel. This simply doesn’t feel fair to guests by who have paid to stay there.
The lifeguard was pleasant and tried to keep on top of the unruly children and general behaviour around the pool, but it was a difficult task given the number of people he was having to manage. He did also remove towels from sunbeds when people were not actually using them, which was appreciated, although this was inconsistent.
It is disappointing to write this review as a repeat visitor. Unfortunately, after this stay, I don’t feel the hotel offers the lovely, luxury boutique experience it once did. The atmosphere around the pool in particular has changed significantly.
There are still positives, the hotel itself is attractive, the rooms are excellent and the housekeeping was good, but the pool situation and lack of control over non-residents have let the hotel down.

Self catering, be warned.

We recently stayed at Anemi Hotel & Suites and, overall, it’s a lovely hotel. The rooms are spacious, modern and immaculately clean, and every member of staff we encountered was friendly, welcoming and professional. We genuinely couldn’t fault the hotel itself.
Unfortunately, there were two issues that really took the shine off what would otherwise have been an excellent stay.
We booked a self-catering holiday, so naturally we bought drinks and snacks from the local supermarket. We were then told that we couldn’t consume our own drinks around the pool. A waiter called Som regularly patrols the pool reminding guests of this. I want to make it clear that this is absolutely not a criticism of Som. He has always been polite and respectful and is clearly just following the hotel’s instructions.
The issue is with the policy itself. Nowhere before or during our stay were we informed that guests on a self-catering basis could not consume their own food and drinks around the pool. It feels unreasonable to book self-catering accommodation and then be expected to purchase expensive drinks from the hotel bar every time you want a drink by the pool. Had this policy been made clear before booking, we could have made a more informed decision.
The second issue was with the lifeguard. On more than one occasion, our children were told to stop splashing or throwing a ball in the pool. They weren’t behaving dangerously or causing problems for other guests; they were simply being children on holiday and enjoying themselves. We eventually had to ask the lifeguard to leave them alone because they weren’t doing anything wrong. He attempted to make light of the situation afterwards, but from our perspective it wasn’t a joke. Families choose hotels like this so their children can have fun, and constantly policing normal play takes away from that experience.
It’s a shame because the hotel, facilities and staff are genuinely excellent. With a more guest-friendly approach to self-catering around the pool and a little more tolerance towards children enjoying their holiday, this would easily be a five-star review.

Dear Pudtheblue,
Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback following your stay at Anemi Hotel & Suites.
We appreciate your kind comments regarding our rooms, cleanliness, facilities, and, most importantly, our team. We are delighted to know that our staff, including Som, left such a positive impression through their professionalism and courteous service.
We would, however, like to clarify the points you have raised.
While you selected a self-catering accommodation, this allows guests the flexibility to prepare and consume their own food and beverages within the privacy of their suite. It does not extend to the consumption of outside food and beverages in the hotel's public areas, including the swimming pool. This policy is in place to maintain the standards of our food and beverage operations, ensure hygiene, and provide a consistent experience for all our guests. We trust that all guests will respect and comply with the hotel's policies during their stay.
Regarding the pool, our lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and enjoyment of all guests. While we welcome families and encourage children to enjoy their holiday, activities such as excessive splashing, ball games, or behaviour that may disturb or inconvenience other guests are not permitted in accordance with our pool regulations. These rules are applied consistently and are intended to create a safe and pleasant environment for everyone using the facilities.
We appreciate your feedback and your understanding that hotel policies and regulations are established in the best interests of all our guests and are expected to be respected throughout their stay.
We thank you once again for your review and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Anemi Hotel & Suites in the future.
Kind regards,

Family holiday

Just returned from a 7 night stay at this hotel. We stayed in a deluxe one bedroom apartment, very spacious and was cleaned every day which was great. Balcony’s are a bit small but was fine. Pool area was good and bonus floats are allowed so kids were happy. Drinks and food at the pool was good but a bit overpriced in my opinion. €12 for a cocktail . Hotel is in a great location, 5 minute walk to the harbour, shops and pubs nearby.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return if the price was right, as we spent quite a lot on food and drink with being self catering it probably would have worked out cheaper staying at an all inclusive hotel.
