Value for money, doing the simple things well.

Great value for money is what comes to mind first and foremost when considering this property;on the nights of my stay there were hostels offering dorm beds for equivalent prices.
What I got for my money was a comfortable spacious room with private bathroom and a balcony with a gorgeous view. Admittedly the shower was a tight squeeze and the wifi spotty but the hotel was faultlessly clean throughout and the buffet breakfast was fresh and varried.
Plus, the cheery welcome received at breakfast was reflected in all dealings with staff who were relaxed but always courteous and helpful.
The property is in the Brutalist style as are the surrounding buidings which is cool and worth checking out if you dig that aesthetic; its large and a little spread out but certainly not a remnant, being fully renovated

Sorry about that

Really sorry
Definitely not a good option to enjoy the wonderful city of Brno
no way
Poor service, after complaining about the room and the lack of higiene and cleaning .....really sorry to say nothing changed.
It's really difficult for us to understand how this can happen, nobody prepared our beds, most of the days not even towels were changed.

Weird place but not bad for a short stay

Located outside Brno center, don’t think the town in walking distance, not quite sure what the building is/was, perhaps a hospital/sanitarium ? Easy enough to find (google mapped the address), parking inside. However, you do need to call reception/security on the intercom every time you need to raise the parking barrier.
Staff spoke little to no English.
The hotel has a sort of ‘70s feel to it. Each room has a communal kitchen, with a sink, microwave and a large fridge. My room was a little bit small – had ample storage space, OK lighting, and a balcony. No fan or a/c, which was tough during the heatwave.
Wifi was fine, signal OK. Bathroom was fine. Had a medium sized LCD TV, no English channels.
There were some vending machines near reception, coffee machines and snacks/sundries – reasonably priced.
Breakfast was in what seems to be an institutional dining room, and service is partly buffet and partly counter service. Fair selection of food.

Slightly bizarre former instutution/old peoples home with minimal refurbishment

First of all this is a bizarre property to find, as it does not have the hotel name anywhere on the exterior, instead it has the logo of the institution that owns it, which includes the medical '+' symbol. The car park is unsigned.
Entry from the car park is down a covered walkway to reception, and from the tram stop is up a load of steps.
English is not spoken at reception, but that's ok, state your name and you get an envelope with a key in. The layout is like a hospital with several different blocks. Each floor has a large seating area and books, like an old people's home. In fact, I have not seen a room like mine since I visited my grand mother in a home. It has a clip board by the entrance for patient notes! It still had hooks on the wall where the resident could hand their own photos.
Access to the city centre is quite easy, a few stops on the tram or a brisk walk.
Breakfast is served in the ground floor/basement bistro, and not in the room sign posted for breakfast. I thought the envelope at reception only contained a key but t actually also contained breakfast tokens. Breakfast itself was basic, but ham/cheese/bread and coffee is OK for me.
Whilst this hotel was clean, and competitively priced, I would not take my partner there.

Lots of steps at this hotel and on a steep hill too.

This was more like an institution than a hotel. Quite a large building and restaurant with little if not any atmosphere. Saying that staff were really helpful.
Rooms are very basic but clean. The shower was good, plenty of hot water.
Breakfast finishes quite early but there is plenty of it.
Bus and tram stops at bottom of hill and come frequently. Only a short ride to the centre.
Be aware if you are disabled or have lots of or heavy luggage you will need to go up a steep hill and then up lots of steps to the hotel
