Great for youngsters, less so for seniors

The hotel offers high quality accommodation. The room was clean, the bathroom spotless, the beds comfortable, the view from the window priceless, the staff pleasant, the free Wi-Fi worked. The restaurant has thirteen Black Forest-type cuckoo clocks on the walls (there are more in the bar) and a reasonably large corner with toys for children. The food is good. The only problem is the lack of an elevator. The staircase from outside to the reception has 18 steps, additional 19 when climbing to the first floor, on a relatively narrow staircase; not good for people with arthritis or those carrying larger suitcases.

AVERAGE WITH DISAPOINTING RESTAURANT AND TIRED SERVICE

We have chosen Madr from other 5 Modrava accommodation choices and Trip Adviser proved to be wrong again. Average rooms, with white painter beds, white and green bath tiles, towels like sand paper, and no screen in window so mosquitos welcome in the room. Restaurant ( outdated, dark and strange mix of wood furnishing with office club pollster chairs) menu was major disappointment - no selection, no typical Czech meals, no parmesan chees for spaghetti order, and on the top of it very high prices for the meal. The service staff looked tired and disinterested. The highlight was very friendly reception lady with great English.

Best place to be

Great hotel for good price in the heart of the Sumava. Even with the kids you get rooms big enough so you can enjoy and relax. We had family room for 2+2 and it was really great. Breakfast is better then usual Czech one, we appreciated fresh fruits. Area around is beutiful so you can just relax behind the hotel next to the small river.

Simply excellent

Located in an incredibly beautiful and peaceful national park. Clean and tidy with super-friendly staff. Immaculately clean. Restaurant serves traditional Czech food and micro brewery beers. Excellent breakfast. Well worth a visit.

Excellent New Years Eve with little kid

We have spent here 4 nights and stayed for New Years Eve party...even though the hotel is next to a road, you can ask for a room with a view to the nature. It was a great stay with our little daughter, there was a childrens corner, toilets were equiped by potties and wet wipes and mainly the staff was completely ok and used to having kids around...I understand for some people it is a nightmare but I was endlessly happy to find a beautiful hotel where me and my child is welcomed. The nature around is also easily accessible for families as some of the roads are suitable for prams.
