Real Czech

Fantastic place for a meeting with friends, very good Czech food, a friendly service and ... what is the best beer in the Czech Republic and, in addition, produced on the spot Karkonos, a place worth recommending.I can not comment on the hotel because I did not use it.

Austere and dont bother asking for anything

I stayed here during Brutal Assault. It was OK, i.e. clean and safe but by no means ideal. A positive was the parking situation. Free and across the street . I would compare it to being in a college dorm room. The only thing provided in the room was a scratchy towel a tiny bathmat and a bottle of hand soap. That's it. The bed was comparable to a low platform bed you might have for a toddler. I did manage to sleep. There is no air conditioning so thank goodness it wasn't that hot. I asked for a kettle but was told it wasn't in the scope. I ended up buying one at the grocery store close by. The staff is decidely inhospitable. Example: the first night I went into the restaurant at 6:55 and sat down, wanting to eat. The guy wandered over at 6:57 and I told him I wanted to order food. He said the kitchen was closed. I pointed out it wasn't 7 pm and he became extremely hostile, shouting and sneering there was only 3 more minutes. First of all it wasn't 7 so I should have been able to order. The place was sold out for the festival, afterall, and if the kitchen closes at 7 you should be able to order until at least 7. (Note to owner: I was so upset by the hostility that I didn't even try to eat in your restaurant again). Second example. I went into the restaurant to get hot water for tea when I was leaving and was refused because the restaurant was closed. Any of the 5 people standing there could easily have given me hot water from the espresso machine but wouldn't because the restaurant was closed. Ridiculous. Kafka would be proud. The night desk clerk was hostile and acted like every request was not just too much work, but utterly absurd to boot. Bottom line, if you're OK staying for any length of time in the equivalent of a dorm room without so much as a tiny cake of soap, then it's fine. I will try some place else the next time I come to brutal assault, not because of the austere facilities, but because of the inhospitable staff. I should add, breakfast was included. It was just OK.

cheap drink & food but...

been there more than 10 times. its an old hotel and restaurant but i only been there on their terrace for a food and drink. i recommend cheap and good domestic beer Krakonos. food is also cheap and good and they offer different kind of meals. service doesn’t speak english and that is bad cause we got several misunderstandings with them. but one thing i wont forget: this year we entered at the full terrace but one table was free as it was on the strong direct sun while all other tables were under the shadow of parasol. we seated there and we noticed that one parasol has a place for our table so we could be in the shadow. we ordered food and drink and moved our table 3 meters under the free parasol to avoid direct sun with the plan to move it back after lunch. but no, first, one waiter came and said we need to move it back immediately, without any specific reason, than second waiter told us to do the same, right now. so, no mercy here, we supposed.

Simple but good

This hotel is in a good area, just 100 meters from the center.
The rooms are simple, classic interior. I had a room on the first level street site. It was very quite on the street so no problems.
The people at the reception do not know how to smile. They answer the question but dit not get a warm feeling from it :-)
The breakfast is very simple hardly any variety but I do not need much.
The hotel is part of a brewery so you can get good beer for very very good price. The food that gets served in the accompanying restaurant(pub) is of good standard but again simple

Gone downhill, avoid at any cost when in Trutnov

I must say this property was a real disappointment. In the center of town the partying and screaming goes on all night amidst heavy beer drinking and one cannot sleep till at least 3 am. I had also asked them to stay out of my room when i was at business meetings and caught them in subterfuge and going through my things. The breakfest is a huge disappointment as they apportion for the breakfest, if you dont get there at 7 am they are out of most everything way before their closing hour of 10 am for the bueffet. They also charge a high price for very low quality. The employees are very surly and uncooperative, mean spirited. I noticed they had very few other guests. The lighting in the room and bathroom was so dark that you couldnt see to shave and could not work from the room to work on work files. The bed was very uncomfortable and the linen soiled. ; bedbugs on one mattress. Above all, the reception is extremely unfriendly. You get the feeling these ladies really hate their job. When it was time for me to check out the woman refused to believe the local museum was sponsoring me , though it was noted to the account and hassled me in her ignorance. Very mean spirited, not friendly in a old communist style hegemony. Sad to say, though the facility seems to have been spruced up a bit this is a hotel i would not recommend under any circumstances i n this price category. The price to quality ratio was missing totally and very overpriced for the horrible time one has there. Dont go to here under any circumstances ! Its a : NO GO ! Finally, they allow heavy cigarette smoking in their restaurant and hotel and the rooms were rank with cig smoke, forget it, not modern and a most mean spirited heavy handed treatment on the part of the unhappy and unfriendly employees. a loser !
