A PERFECT FAIRYTALE WEDDING
We had the most magical wedding at Hvedholm Slot. The venue is a true fairytale and we loved how private it is — everything happens in one place: the ceremony, the reception, party and accommodation for all guests. No stress, just pure celebration.
Yes, it is an old castle — that is its charm. To complain that a historic castle (built in the 15th century) is old makes no sense. Its history is what makes it so romantic and unique.
The food at both the reception and the wedding dinner was absolutely amazing. It was beautifully presented, incredibly delicious, and served with such elegance. Every single course was perfect.
The level of service was exceptional. The entire team was so professional, warm and attentive. A special thank you to Mia, who helped me with absolutely everything. She was kind, calm, very professional and always there for us. We couldn't have done it without her.
We highly recommend Hvedholm Slot. It was the best decision we made.

Cannot be recommended - pinlingt!
We had two overnight stays at the castle in connection with a wedding, and unfortunately, I must say that the experience was far below what one can expect – especially from a place that promotes itself for weddings and large events.
The standard of the castle, the rooms, and the surrounding areas is under all criticism. The rooms were dirty, there was cobwebs everywhere, and the bathroom grout was black with mold.
The place also seemed completely understaffed and disorganized. For example, we had to wait a whole 75 minutes for a dinner that was pre-ordered.
The food for the wedding itself was actually okay, but again we were met with boiled potatoes that were almost crumbled in the bowl. The white wine and champagne were not chilled but at room temperature, and the quality of the alcohol was very low.
The breakfast was also very disappointing - sparse, boring, and lacking the quality one should expect. The coffee was so strong and black that it could almost be used as tar.
If it had been my own wedding, and I had paid the big bill for the event, I would have been furious to say the least. When choosing a hotel for one of life's biggest days, one simply expects a completely different level of service, maintenance, and quality.
I therefore cannot recommend the place for weddings or other large events. It is quite embarrassing to own a castle with so much potential, but at the same time not ensure that it is maintained and run at even a minimum of the level one can expect.

Lack of experience
The place bears the mark of that it needs a thorough cleaning and renovation. The food was fine, but there was too little staff to take care of the guests. There was a lot of waiting time and there were several who got a wrong order. We have great sympathy for the staff who were there, they did their best. Not a place we'll come back.

The atmosphere
HVEDHOLM CASTLE
The longer I stay here at this castle, the better it feels. From the 16th century.
Romantic, quiet, fantastic interior and atmosphere.
Like a fairy tale. Like living with the royals.
Walking around the endless hallways, rooms, living rooms, banquet halls and the imagination runs wild.
One guest thought there was a painting of Napoleon on the wall here....
It's like walking into a British crime series.... Imagine how much blackmail, devilry and murder has been planned within these walls...
What about the ghosts that haunt here?
How many were held captive in the basement?
Here you can get inspiration for many sleepless nights and books.
The park is full of many different tall, huge, beautiful trees... incredibly beautiful....
And the pigeons warn of the night and the darkness to come...
The lakes, the moats are covered in a green film of green algae with a few water lilies.....
What is hiding down in the depths from ancient times?
And over the dead the ducks swim...
Over the tower, where the maidens and daughters were kept locked up, the tower sailors soar in large flocks... restless, while they scream out their high-pitched hwee hwee......
Next time i want the ghost room!!!

Can be recommended
We enjoy visiting this beautiful castle in connection with a weekend trip.
We got an exquisite service though, there were really many guests at the castle - and even a wedding. We could not see the entire castle because of the mentioned wedding, but it did not matter to us. We can only recommend Hvedholm Castle and their restaurant.
