If you're going to see some of North Sjælland, then this is a good central location

Comfortable double bed, which is a rarity in Danmark. It is a good distance from Kronborg Castle in Helsingør, Louisiana Art Gallery in Humlebæk, Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød, as well as the north coast.
A bus is available from Fredensborg Station to near the accommodation.

Very unfriendly. SUCKS! JUST DON’T BOTHER STAYING

I had booked a stay with my son for two nights in early Aug. 2019. We were going on a summer vacation and meet up with my parents (which would be staying with my brother). Unfortunately, on the morning of our check in, I received the heartbreaking news that my father had passed. So, I called the Hostel immediately to cancel and explained the reason. There was NO “I’m sorry and condolences”. Just: “No, you should have called two days prior to annull the booking.”. Obviously, no one plans for death... I would NEVER ever recommend a place like this!
My other bookings with other summerhouses had no problem with cancellations as long as I provided documentation.

Not perfect, but the best price

The cheapest hostel in town, so don't be too much demanding on quality of your room.
1) Check in is only until 18h!! We booked in booking.com that we would arrive at midnight but there was no one waiting for us. We had to phone to the number in the website... The lady owner had to wake up (and you can imagine that she was not in good humor) so we wouldn't spend the night in the street.
2) The room was not clean. Had too much dust bellow the bed.
3) The mattress was horrible.
4) You have to rent bedsheets. It costs around 50 DKK (around 7 euros) per bedsheet!!!
5) The lady from this hostel is very helpful... She gave us some indications to what to look around, and they were all good!
6) The outside of the hostel is very nice and beautiful.

Uphill struggle

This hostel recently took on new management. As such they can be forgiven a degree of headlessness.
But citing this fact at every turn made the stay hard work when it should've been a relaxing getaway.
Facilities need a good fix-up, then maybe we'll see about adding more stars.

Quiet and comfortable

It is tucked down a gravel road behind a larger hotel, some better signage might have been useful. But its a very nice and. comfortable hostel. We were in Fredensborg for a wedding, and luckily the hostel is within a 15 minute walk from the local train station, the castle, and the wedding reception venue. Being right next to the castle is very convenient, and just down the street is a bunch of restaurants and cafés. The hostel's grounds looked very nice, although we didn't have time to explore them.
The reception is unfortunately only manned during certain hours, although there is a call button if you need them. Staff is friendly, everything about Fredensborg is very laid back.
