Andean thermal relaxation

Surrounded by Andean nature, it is ideal for those seeking relaxation and well-being in a suggestive setting. The structure offers very large and comfortable rooms: the beds are large, with TV, stove, mattresses and comfortable pillows. Some rooms have a private thermal bath, an added value for enjoying the warm waters in total privacy. There are various swimming pools with thermal waters, where you can swim by paying the entrance fee even without staying. Given the size and scale of the structure, maintenance is complex and sometimes not impeccable in every detail; however, the staff is always present, active and available, ready to ensure a good level of service. The costs are quite high compared to the Ecuadorian average, but the overall experience can justify the price for those who want a relaxing and unusual stay. Guests also have access to the restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner and a shop for various purchases. It is also the starting point for trekking excursions in the surroundings.

Everything about Hosteria Pampallacta was amazing! The various thermal baths are great temperatures - hot, warm and also cold pools/baths.
The rooms were all very comfortable with gorgeous views.
The diner and dining room experience was top notch.
The hiking trails were an added bonus.
Thank you for everything - we will be back!

Hidden Gem

We chose this place based on recommendations by a friend. The staff was very welcoming and after 3 weeks of traveling in Ecuador we can honestly say the food at this restaurant was the best we had the entire trip! After leaving the heat and humidity of the Amazon we were shocked by the 50 degree temperatures. When we returned to our room after dinner, we were astonished to find a fire burning in the fireplace, the stone pool in our room completely filled with hot thermal water and the bottle of wine we had ordered breathing on the table. I would highly recommend this hotel and appreciated the willingness of the staff to work with us on a mistake with our reservation.

Hostal Pampallactas Termales is a great little spa with a lot of tradition and with very nice old style rooms (and newer rooms). The experience of having both a chimney fire and the private thermal pool in your room prepared, while you have dinner is quite unique. E-Mail communication in English before our arrival was was sometimes a bit difficult but always worked out in the end. On site the omnipresent Alvaro (how many copies of him are actually running around the site?) was not only fantastic in arranging everything for us, but he is also very good in communication without actually speaking English. So, even in the shorter part of the stay when no English speaking stuff was present, communication worked fine.
The three pools are small and lovely and so is the courtyard. Breakfast is great and varies a bit each day. It was very quite during our stay but I can imagine that the pools might get quite busy on weekends.
A remark: some of the pool pictures on the Tripadvisor site (uploaded by tourist) are not from Pampallacta Thermales but from the very fancy "Termas Papallacta" Spa resort or other hotes/ pools in the area. Since you could walk there and visit their pools this may actually be as intended, but I guess in most cases somebody was just confused. As a general rule: pictures from large pools (maybe with lots of people in), are not from Pampallactas Termales, but those form small, cosy pools are :-)

Basic Hotel For The Hot Springs Experience

It's all about the hot springs and you can enjoy them in either an indoor or outdoor pool. The rooms are very basic and the restaurant nothing special, although the included breakfast was truly excellent. The manager speaks fluent English and is quick to respond to problems and questions. For the price I have no complaints. Just don't expect anything fancy.
