Absolutely loved my stay! The staff were awesome, and the room was super clean. The location rocked with so many cool spots around. I’d totally come back for round two

Avoid it

Absolutely Dreadful Experience - Avoid This Hotel at All Costs!
My experience with this establishment was so appalling that I refused to even check in, and I am still fighting to get my money back. From the moment I approached the entrance, it was clear this was not a place anyone should consider staying.
Firstly, the location felt incredibly unsafe. The surrounding area was unsettling, and I immediately felt uneasy. This alone was almost enough to deter me, but what followed sealed the deal.
Navigating the entrance was a hazard in itself. There were at least 12 uneven steps with no clear markings or handrails, making it a serious tripping hazard, especially with luggage. This lack of accessibility was immediately concerning.
Then, I was confronted with the elevator – a relic that looked and felt like it was a hundred years old. The groaning and shuddering noises it made were deeply unsettling, and I genuinely feared for my safety using it.
To add insult to injury, there was absolutely no offer of assistance with luggage. After struggling with my bags up the treacherous steps, the thought of hauling them into that ancient elevator was unbearable.
The overall ambiance of the entrance was frankly scary. It was dimly lit, poorly maintained, and gave off a strong sense of neglect. At this point, I had seen enough. I felt deeply uncomfortable and unsafe, and I made the decision not to check in.
Despite the clearly unacceptable and potentially dangerous conditions, the hotel refused to refund my money. This is utterly outrageous. I did not receive any service, and the state of the property was so poor that it posed a safety risk.
I strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to look elsewhere. The unsafe location, hazardous access, ancient and likely unsafe elevator, and complete lack of customer service make this an absolute nightmare. Save yourself the trouble, the potential danger, and the financial loss.

Fine place, despite crumby exterior, good people inside!

Our stay in the Midtown was fine.
We were a bit worried since it was our first night in Cairo and considering that the surrounding city streets are dark and busy it was reassuring when we met Mahmoud the owner. Firstly, he reached out via Whatsapp to ensure we’d a taxi or tours, we’d already prebooked these but he was the only hotel owner who was upfront and straight with no hassle on the tours. This is nice because during the trip the guides sometimes went overboard trying to sell tours to you, Mahmoud has respect and patience.
The access is via 4 flights of stairs or an elevator which looks broken but works perfectly fine. Mahmoud welcomed us, did the passports and showed us to the room in good time, no waiting around.
The room was: fine, clean and quiet. Bathroom had toilet paper and hot water, only thing we’d to ask for was a hair dryer and towels but the other hotels always seem to have these upon request only too. The wifi had extenders but seemed to be weak, a recurrent issue we had in our other hotels. The WE mobile network from the sims we bought in airport was better.
Mahmoud checked if we wanted tours which was good.
Breakfast in morning was fine, eggs, bread and falafel. Nothing dissimilar from the rest of the hotels. A bit slower than usual from the staff to get the breakfast, but when it came it was good.
Finally on check out day we’d an early start and the guy was helpful, wanted to check the room but didn’t keep us waiting.
Overall, I’m quiet happy we stayed here and would give 4/5, as it was good value for money. You’re not paying for the Ritz Carlton here, Mahmound seems to be an honest guy doing an honest days work and that made our trip better. Improvement Tip: I think there should be a Wifi booster in every room.,quicker coffee and cleaner staircase.

I have my worst nightmare and experience with this booking. I will ask Expedia to check and validate properties they have on their website to eliminate my type of experience. A day before my arrival I got a message from Mahmoud that I will not be staying in this hotel because of ongoing renovations. I was given a different address for another location hotel. I couldn’t believe that is where I was transferred to stay for 5 days. I only stayed there for one day and rebooked to another hotel using Bookings.com. I made Mahmoud aware of my fears of that building which my reason for checking out unexpectedly. I hope Mahmoud and Expedia would work together and send a refund of days I didn’t sleep in the so-called hotel.
