Isolated hostel
It depends what you are looking for and what your expectations are. Without a car it was a bit of a challenge, getting there by public transportation, so it would be immensely helpful if they wrote all that in the narrative.. . it took me a few hours to get there, and the last bus getting over to the last stretch was gone already, so I was really grateful that I was able to speak to a local elderly gentleman who let me into their ranch where I had to go pee really badly after being on the road for several hours, and he actually dropped me off with his motorcycle in the rain! The place was storming during my time there I only stayed for two nights and then I moved to another place closer further down south, but I understand what the other guy was saying that it was isolated in the middle of nowhere the other guy who had a car and ended up going Drinking and coming back really late at night and couldn’t get back in. Yeah the security people, especially with one of the older gentlemen seems to be immensely grumpy. The day that I arrived, I didn’t make a reservation however I contacted the staff there and told them that I was on my way and where I was coming so we had an active communication already, but the guy still gave me a hard time and had to phone it in before he would even let me in. I had to show him our conversation on WhatsApp. The guest experience could be a lot better perhaps the owner of La Garza needs to take security out for some beer.
For me, I didn’t mind a couple days of R&R being isolated in the middle of nowhere because the rate is actually pretty good and it’s kind of what I need it to decompress from my very hectic and stressful life.
If you don’t have a car, you basically won’t have much options in terms of food so you would basically eat an order from their menu. It’s the same menu. It’s a small menu and after two days I think I ate most of the stuff on the menu. I’d like to see a couple more things in the menu. It was nice breakfast was included.
The website when I booked says the meals are $12 but they’re actually a little higher than that so they should update it. E

Thanks for your stay and your review, Sandy. We do comunícate and include in our narrative our isolated location and recommendations on the easiest way to get there when booking with us. We recommend to all guests to make a reservation before coming to prevent misinformation. Please book with us before showing up unannounced :) We are located inside a private residential area - security at the front gate does not work for Lagarza. He follows instructions to only allow guests with reservations to all properties. We have over 50 plate options on our menu. It is a common practice all over El Salvador to include a gratuity % on all food and drink items. Hope you have a nice day!

Little interest in tourists and poor customer service
We are three foreigners who traveled from San Salvador attracted by the idea of El Nuevo Salvador. We saw a hostel that looked very nice and on their Instagram page they published the benefits of their gastronomy and mythologies. Several friends told me that they had stayed and everything was fine. We took the challenge of going and hired a taxi from San Salvador, at the entrance to Lagarzanos we had to get off since the access street is very ugly and not just any car can enter. When we wanted to enter we were asked by a security person who told us that to use the restaurant we needed a day pass and we mentioned that we could buy it even though we only came for an hour's lunch. He gave us a number to call and a very unaware person told us that they couldn't let us in because they had exceeded their capacity. He didn't care about the trip we took or the distance traveled or that we would only use the restaurant. He also didn't care that our private transportation had already left and would return in two hours, yet he told us that we couldn't enter and that we should stay outside the property. Disrespect for tourists and human dignity. This place is not worth our time or money and I hope that people do not spend their money here since they did not deign to answer all the messages we sent them via WhatsApp or Instagram and when we arrived they told us that we cannot enter. Shame on them for having a place to attract tourists and being so rude.

Hola David lamentamos mucho que hayan hecho el viaje hasta Lagarza sin tener una reserva y que no hayan podido ingresar debido a que ya estábamos a nuestra capacidad máxima de huéspedes. Les recordamos que no damos servicio de restaurante abierto al público, únicamente atendemos a huéspedes con reserva hospedados en el hostal. En caso hubiésemos tenido disponibilidad de cupos para day pass los hubiéramos atendido con muchísimo gusto.
La señora vigilante que les comentó que podían adquirir un day pass no es empleada de Lagarza, es la persona de seguridad de la lotificacion Shalpa que les brindó el número de Lagarza con la intención de ayudarlos. Las disculpas del caso pero no tenemos ningún mensaje suyo en redes sociales. Esperamos que para un futuro puedan reservar con nosotros y disfrutar de un bonito día en Lagarza. Que tenga un feliz día.

Wonderful place and staff
Thank you to Daniel and the team for a wonderful stay! We had a great time! The view, the infinity pool, the terrace, delicious food and drinks! Everything is clean. Nice beach! And a friendly dog! We were a big group with several rooms including the one with a garden toilet which was very cool! We saw Salvadorian National bird on the grounds. Booked a surfing lesson at the reception with a wonderful instructor, and the staff booked a taxi to the airport for us. It was amazing!

Terrible food & drink. Location middle of no where!
LOCATION 1/10 - middle of no where, no bars or restaurants near by.
FOOD 2/10 - had better street food. Kitchen staff have no idea how to cook food that isn’t deep fat fried. Spring rolls with peanut sauce tasted like gone off sour milk mixed with mud. I was quite poorly after the meal so I think the hygiene is poor.
PRICE 3/10 - looks much nicer online. Paid $120 for a private room in a hostel you’d expect it to be something pretty special, to my disappointment it was not value for money.
BAR 1/10 - Bar staff couldnt make a glass of orange juice never mind to make a smoothie, mojito or pina colada which all tasted sour and undrinkable so I stuck to bottled drinks.
VIEWS 9/10 - Gorgeous views seeing the ocean, palm trees and (small) infinity pool.
Not enough tables for people to sit at for meal times and only had three sunbeds.
Waste of a day staying here would not recommend and waste of money.

We are a remote hostel located a a secluded beach - the whole point is being isolated in nature to connect with the environment and relax.

The perfect get away!
This is a small resort but it has everything that you need. We were dropped off and picked up from here for 2 nights. The staff is friendly. The food and drinks were excellent. They just need more seating (chais lounges). We would love to come back.
