Affordable accommodation and friendly service in Porvoo
A hostel in a historical, wooden house - creaking, a bit windy but charming house with quiet and very clean rooms and showers and a very friendly hostess. Good enough common kitchen, private fridges - very practical. Value for your money if you want to visit the charming town of Porvoo!

Affordable stay in Porvoo
While slow traveling through southern Finland, I stayed 3 nights at the hostel, which was fine for me, but definitely seemed like an anomaly to people at the hostel.
The hostel is definitely dated and paper thin floors and walls. You can hear people snore in the room next to you very easily. The bathrooms are actually nicely equipped and you have good water pressure, which was a surprise.
Wifi throughout the hostel is iffy but I was close to the router and did get a signal.
One thing to note: the hostel is open from 6am - 10am and 4pm - 11pm. There is no one on-site between those times and sometimes not even until 11pm.
There is no luggage storage if you arrive early too. You will literally be sitting outside so be aware. In the morning, there is a lot of noise with the housekeeper trying to clean and remove things before the 10am time hits. Whether you’re in the room or not.
For check in time, the manager is very nice and speaks English well so that’s a nice welcome.
The hostel is definitely worth the cost savings, but if you don’t have a car, it’s not a great location. You’re 20 minute walk from old town (maybe more) and at least 15 minutes from the bus station. If weather isn’t great…that will not be fun.
Overall, I would recommend it and would consider staying again.

A Peaceful Stay in Porvoo
Distance: Approximately a 1.5-kilometer walk to the old town of Porvoo, grocery stores, restaurants, and the ski area.
Host: A lovely lady with whom we had many great conversations about movies and accommodated the timings of check-in based on our convenience.
Rooms: The four-shared spacious dormitory had wardrobes, a refrigerator, a television, and a dining table for four.
Amenities: Shared washrooms for guests, a kitchen with cutlery, microwave, oven, and gas. There was also a sit-out area in the front yard of the property.

Good package for amount of money
Service is pretty good at the hostel. Reception is on the place almost always and is very glad to help. Roms are in good condition, clean, with thick tv inside. The thing is, that walls are really tin, and you can hear if someone is talking in the next room, sneezing or snores, I would recommend taking something to put in your ears, just in case. There is a kitchen, where you can make food yourself, a hostel is providing with free tea, coffee and it's possible to ad sauce - ketchup or mustard. At my staying I had problems with wifi, it couldn't connect to a network and be pretty limited. The hotel has a good location, next to a swimming pool, in a quiet area of town. 900m away from the center of the city and ~500m to the closest store. If I hade a chance I would stay here for the second time.

Good cheap choice for Porvoo
We booked a twin room which was a good size for the two of us, with 2 single beds ( I don’t think double beds are an option here?). The host was friendly, the place was clean and quiet. The shared bathroom was small but clean and the kitchen likewise. We didn’t self cater at the hostel but if we had tried I think the facilities were fairly limited. The location is fine, definitely walking distance to the old town etc- and the area of Porvoo immediately near the hostel also has some lovely old wooden buildings to admire. For breakfast the host suggested going across the road to the swimming pool where there is a buffet breakfast each morning- however the offerings there were pretty basic.
