It looks a bit old and worne from the outside, inside however it is a very nice place with very friendly and helpful staff/owner. Breakfast is included and is good for the price paid. Not a buffet type of breakfast but nice and the bakery is nice where it is served next door except Sundays when it is brought to the kitchen in the hotel. This kitchen is fully equipped and can be used by guests. Nice to have!

Needs more focus on details
Sorry for giving only three pointsm: there is much potential to a great experience.
The hotel looks nice, kind of retro exterior and interior with matching decorations in the rooms. It is small and definately lacks the the chain hotel impersonality.
There are also other things that would point out to high points
- the lady who gave us the room was very helpful and cheerful personality
- good parking facilities
- the breakfast was ok
- the sauna in our room was good (even though there was some strange odour in the showers outside of it)
This kind of a hotel is, however, very much depending on the details that make the visitors feel taken care of with special attention - and this is where they failed: even if they knew when we were coming the heating of the room was turned very low. It was not nice to go to a room with ”too fresh” an air and freezing cold floor. We needed to go into the sauna when it was just below 50 degrees centigrate - to avoid shuttering. We had adjusted the floor heating immediately after arriving and therefore the floor was better when we arrived from our dinner four hours later. That was of course ok, but it was too late for us to give the hotel even four points. With that detail taken care of we would have fiven four or even five points (with the heating on and also no bad foul air in the shower, it would certainly have been full five points)

Charming, nostalgic and cozy
We stayed at Maakunta during the Forssa Silent Film Festival and it was just perfect. The hotel itself is incredibly charming with old timey film nostalgia, the rooms are cute and cozy and the beds were super comfortable. Staff was friendly, all in all very good value for the money. The area around the hotel is also wonderful - the movie theatre is just a fews steps away, and so is the beautiful riverside. The surrounding block is mostly old tree houses and at night there were lanterns everywhere, just wonderful. Breakfast at the bakery Antin konditoria was good, and we bought other delicious treats from there during the day. Warmly recommend, we will be back. <3

Vintage surprise at economy level
Lovely a bit quaint place to stay, simple and relaxed, quite worn out old-school hotel. Just across the river from the bus station or the center of the town. Sinks in room, but WC in the corridor. One shower per floor with not very clear rules of use. Quite comfortable beds. Kitchen with all necessary kitchenware on the both floors. Helpful and friendly hostess, some things might take time. Check up their office hours! Absolutely neat breakfast in the neighboring bakery (included), open since 6AM, till 10AM. With all local folks!

Провела 5 дней в самом маленьком номере этого отеля на 30 номеров - Piccolo, №15.
От хозяев (в отеле они появляются редко, но живут совсем близко) узнала, что здание было куплено, хорошенько отреставрировано и превращено в отель в 2007 году.
У каждого номера есть название, связанное с его содержимым. Несколько номеров украшены из любви к искусству, зачастую - Аки Каурисмяки (например, в №30 - "Татьяна" - висит плакат одноимённого фильма с автографом режиссёра).
Внутри отель выглядит уютнее, чем снаружи: забота, хороший вкус и дизайнерские усилия чувствуются во многих деталях. Уюта добавляет хорошая старая деревянная мебель и красивые обои в номерах. В общих пространствах много живых цветов и разных домашних безделушек.
Кухня оснащена по полной программе - как дома у хороших хозяев.
Завтраки подают в кафетерии (соседний дом в минуте пешком), а по выходным еду оттуда приносят в корзинках и оставляют в холодильнике.
В подвале отеля оборудована мини-прачечная самообслуживания для постояльцев.
У хозяев "Маакунты" есть загородная недвижимость - её тоже можно снять.
Кстати, в переводе с финского название отеля означает "Провинция".
