A nice stay in a very quiet waterfront hotel.

I stayed with my family in a family room at Hotell Kalkstrand, and I have to say that this was by far the best family room we’ve stayed in. The room was very big and had a separate table with four chairs. This was very nice, as family sized hotel rooms are normally, in my opinion, way too small for a family. I.e. there are four beds and exactly one chair. No room for luggage, clothing or what have you. But not at Kalkstrand; there was room for all and then some.
The breakfast was another story. There were very few guests at that time, so the breakfast setup was the most modest I’ve ever seen. You did not have to ponder for very long what to eat as there were very few alternatives to chose from.
We also ate lunch, the fish was very good.
The staff was very nice and the manager paid us a short visit both mornings.
There are a separate door for checked-in guests. This is very nice as you do not need to pass the reception every time you enter or exit the hotel.

Hot night in July, modest but ok breakfast.

There is no air conditioning, so the night was ver rough and uncorfortable in July! This is rather guesthouse than a hotel.
Very simple breakfast, but porridge and archipelago bread were fresh & tasty and enough for us.
The only hotel in Parainen, so location is good

Not recommended

Basic hotel in a nice location, no aircon (so it's uncomfortably hot in summer), some of the staff are downright rude, others just couldn't care less, there was only one friendly guy at the reception. I wouldn't stay here again in the future.

Kraakpand Kalkstrand

Don’t go. This place needs reno.
It’s old it’s poor, breakfast is below any standard. Location is the only +.
Maybe if they invest in a complete makeover it can be ‘ something.
Inkt advise I can give is simply book elsewhere.

Don’t go here

Horrible hotel stuck in 80’s. Rude service, dirty room, extra dirty bathroom. No air conditioning. Leaking floss, broken cabinet. To top this our lamp broke and circuited so that we had no electricity for few hours. Did not try breakfast just wanted to gtfot
