Unfortunately the air conditioning in the room is too invasive. Even setting the temperature higher, the air was coming too strongly and it made the room coldish and uncomfortable.

Reception was effective

Disappointing experience from a reliable choice

We stayed in several Scandic hotels during our trip to Scandinavia. It seemed like a reliable choice to us. I wouldn't strictly call it a four-star, but a very good three-star. The Scandic Tampere Station is close to the train station but not easy to find, tucked away at the end of an alley next to a Lidl. There were a lot of people at the front desk during check-in and no self-service kiosks. We were given a room on the seventh floor. The room was very decent, the bathroom a bit more spartan but functional. The nightmare began at bedtime. Accustomed to soft Scandinavian bedding, it was a big surprise to discover a mattress that was almost domed and bouncy. When my wife came to join him, and I should specify that she is a featherweight, the mattress almost propelled me out of the bed... Then, it was infernally hot without us being able to do anything about it. The windows, to my great regret, were sealed shut. There wasn't even a shutter or the slightest access to the night air. To top it all off, a large ventilation grille was located above the bed and the incessant and amplified noise in the dark gave me the impression that I was going to sleep next to the infernal boiler of the hotel in The Shining. At no point was there any respite. I finally drifted off around three in the morning and we woke up at 10:20 AM to realize that the breakfast buffet had been closed since 10:00 AM.

Still in need of renovation

Signs of wear on the floor. Curtain holders broken. Shower enclosure seals detached. Ventilation VERY noisy.
