A welcome change of pace.

We enjoyed our stay in the Hotel le Provence located in the centre of Agen. Travelling through France we had grown tired of the chain hotels and a relief to stay in a family run hotel with traditional décor, good sized bedroom and separate WC. This 3-star hotel is only 8-minute walk from the train station. Free Wi-Fi available in the soundproofed guest rooms. The en suite bathrooms are fitted with a hairdryer. We enjoyed a buffet breakfast in a cheerful breakfast room. Low-cost public parking on site, and the Canal du Midi is adjacent. The owners provided a locked garage for bikes. A welcome change of pace.

Don’t use this hotel!!!

We checked in to stay for 4 nights with a child which when we got there the hotel was nothing like the pictures and not child friendly so we only stayed the one night which he charged us 87 pound then left to a different hotel which is more child friendly. Later that day I checked my bank and he had took a further 260 pounds out manually without him having any of my details!! The only thing I can think of is the card machine used at his hotel scanned my card. He is refusing to answer any of my calls and won’t show back up at the hotel I suggest to anyone not to stay here the guy is dodgey and wouldn’t want this to happen to anybody else!

Good Location, comfortable beds...

My family (my partner and I and 2 children) stayed here for two nights. It was well located and we managed to find parking close by without too much trouble. All in all, it was adequate for the price we paid considering it was well located. The room was a good size, we had a double bed and two single beds which were very comfortable. The bathroom was OK and the shower was great with plenty of hot water. The towels were lovely and clean and of very good quality, The only thing that really let this hotel down was the dreadful décor. It really does need a good lick of paint. There were several dirty marks on the wall (including the toilet) which really let the place down and the carpets were also stained and dirty in places which made you feel as though you should definitely be wearing slippers! Such a shame, as it they were to address these issues, it would be a far more pleasant place to stay. We only met one member of staff and he was polite and pleasant.

Quiet, old-fashioned and very kind...

Forget the chaotic feeling of the ground floor with all these mirrors and necessary code to enter as the hotel remains closed at certain hours. Rooms are quiet, a bit old-fashioned, and well sized. Evening sun flooding into the ones facing the street. The couple of owners are very pleasant, somewhat disabused but very helpful and smiling. Should you wish to escape the solemn "Jacobins" or the dreary "apart-hotel" close to the railway station, le Provence will be your best pick : calm, kindness & excellent quality-price.

Great for the price

This is an old style city centre hotel so has all the advantages of being very central. They had upgraded the bathroom which made the experience very positive. Lovely soft towels, big well lit mirror and a nice shower. Bike storage if you need.
