Beautiful old building - interesting stay!

We stayed overnight between Dieppe and Bordeaux. It is a beautiful old building with a lovely garden, that guests can use, which has some resident chickens. There is no reception so it is quite difficult to understand how to check in upon arrival. Luckily another guest helped us out. You need to phone the owner, who does speak good English. We also needed to pay in cash, There is a cashpoint very nearby.
Parking is free next to the building. The room was large. Eating options are available just make sure you walk into town not out of it which is what we did!
Lovely creperie almost opposite.

AVOID!

We arrived with our family to stay here for one night. There was no one to greet us. We spent a while getting into the room using a code that eventually worked. The smell of tobacco smoke was ATROCIOUS. We asked for a non-smoking room but it stank of smoke and made us all feel unwell, so we left and found a hotel nearby. None of it was very clean. The bed sheets were clearly very old and not of good quality. We received text messages shortly after we arrived saying we hadn’t deposited our cash into the payment box quickly enough!
We left and messaged to say we couldn’t stay there because of the awful smell of smoke (and explained that we had asked for a non-smoking room and couldn’t stay because our children felt unwell) but the owner decided to charge us anyway and we have not received a refund to this day, despite several conversations with Trip Advisor.
Honestly I would not go near this place if I were you!

Satisfied with the price and position

We spent 2 nights in the blue suite room. I don't really understand some of the comments, the descriptions are clear, Senseo coffee maker on site it is specified to bring pods. It is also specified that some rooms have a shared bathroom (not the case for ours). The only downside actually concerns the stained mattress, a clean mattress pad would be necessary, and the toilet seat which is a little wobbly.
The rooms were clean.
The opening badge was not in the room, a call to Sandra and she dropped it off for us.
Concerning the remote reception, nothing to complain about, a call from Sandra before our arrival, an SMS where everything is well explained, the entry codes are transmitted.
Payment in cash or check is specified in the reservation confirmation email.
It is an old house full of charm, very well located in relation to the city center, the area is quiet, the stairs creak, it is up to users to be careful not to make too much noise like everywhere else. .
I chose “average” in rating because there is no “good”.

Disappointed, we got back on the road without having been able to make breakfast,

Room ok but disappointed because normally we could make coffee in the morning, I had planned filter and coffee, lack of bowl it was a senseo and obviously we did not have the capsules, a knife for 2, and connected home, no visual contact , it's not at all what you expect from a guest room
