Good budget option for Arles

This is what you expect from an Ibis Budget. I particularly liked the size of the room and the friendliness of the staff, with free pastries on the reception desk! The hotel is not located in the very centre of Arles (it felt like a good 20-min walk), hence the slightly cheaper price, but there was a very convenient bus stop outside the hotel for a bus that took you quickly to the centre and to the train station.

Horrible

The breakfast was poor. The buffet was dirty and not very well-stocked when things ran out. The attendant was making noise while washing trays and cups, disturbing the tranquility of the room.
What we didn't like · Upon arrival, the only positive note was the friendliness of the porter who was on duty around 9:30 PM.
When we went up to the room, the door wouldn't open with the key card; they are seriously defective, and luckily other guests passed by who explained to us how to open it, but that is not acceptable.
The room was fine, but the bathroom didn't have a toilet brush, so if you went to do your business, you couldn't clean it. There was a squashed mosquito on the bathroom door, certainly not a good sign regarding cleanliness.
During the night, the air conditioning wasn't working; it wasn't blowing cold air. I went down to the reception to ask them to turn it on, but when I went back up, I found that nothing had changed. So I went down again, and the night porter dismissively said that it wasn't possible to change to a room where the air conditioning worked and said that I could sleep on the armchairs in the lobby or in the car.
The arrogant and indecorous attitude continued while I expressed myself cordially in English and received responses in French that I did not understand.
If you only want to speak French, only take French clients. The whole night without sleeping because of the heat, taking showers from time to time to cool off.
An absurd experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone.
I already wrote about breakfast earlier and it was the fitting conclusion to this terrible experience. The room also cost too much for what was offered. The property is generally old and dirty, kept very poorly. Never again in this place, not even for free.

Horrible

Honestly, we always stay at ibis budget hotels, but this time we were disappointed. Arriving at 1:50 PM, we were told to wait because the room wasn't ready (from 2:00 PM); we went back at 2:15 PM, still nothing, luckily the pool was there.
When we finally got the room keys, we saw that there was only 1 bed for 3 people; they changed our room, but the AC was broken. We ended up with a fan, and given the heat, we had a horrible night.
I never complain, but this was honestly a very bad experience, and frankly, the price of breakfast wasn't worth it either.

The hotel / room / bedding and property were clean. The staff were cheerful, polite and helpful. There was a bit of noise due to a group of chaperoned teenagers staying on the same floor... Loud talking / laughing / running in the hallway, door slamming, etc. The pool was open, and i was told that the restaurant was closed for meals other than breakfast.
