3 day stop.

Typical old style French hotel, by that I mean a spacious room and bathroom, but rooms looking dated and some what basic.
The room had been painted and was clean. They changed our towels everyday which was nice but unnecessary.
Our room was over the court yard, which was quiet when we went in October, but may not be so in summer as they have tables and chairs out so you can enjoy a drink or meal.
The restaurant was busy but the two staff members were very professional and attentive.
The food was good but I found it to be expensive.
There is no onsite garage, but a public car park is around the corner and if you want they do offer for a charge, a garage which is locked around the corner near the public car park, which was OK if you didn't need to use the car as you need to get and return a key, and the one way system meant it was a pain to get in and out.
Breakfast was a buffet.

Hotel in Auxerre

Stayed in this hotel for one night. And that was one two many! It was terrible. Very bad service. The bedroom was dark and drab. No bedside tables, no extra pillows. No coffee making facilities. (OK, we could put up with that). The proprietor was inattentive, spent more time outside smoking! There was a mixup with our room, it wasn’t the original one we had booked.
The restaurant was shabby, service slow. There was one young waitress rushing about coping with all the orders with no help. It took 2 and 1/2 hours to finish our very mediocre dinner.
The following morning the restaurant tables hadn’t been cleared from the night before. There were still plates, crockery and empty wine bottles on the tables.
Breakfast was no better. Very poor selection in dingy room. They had the cheek to charge £9 for it!!
Overall the place was scruffy and worn. Cardboard boxes piled up everywhere. Rubbish piled in corners outside in the courtyard.
No free parking. Public parking around the corner. The location was dilapidated, with many empty shops and boarded up windows. This part of France looked like it was up for sale!
I would not recommend this hotel at all. It was not good value for money. It does not warrant 2 stars. It doesn’t compare with any other 2 stars we have stayed in.
Very disappointed and angry at paying 158€ for 2 people and a little dog.

If run down equates to charming, this is a charming place.

Auxerre is a very old town, so there is no parking at the hotel - no problem. We parked in a nearby lot and rolled our luggage to the entry that was locked, even though we were there about an hour after the posted check in time. Eventually we were let in, and found the room had no soap, just 2 small packets of body wash, and no shower, just a handheld shower in the tub.
The door had no "deadbolt" lock, you had to lock yourself in the room with the key. This caused us to notice that there are no smoke detectors! There is no coffee in the room, and they didn't make up the room either. They left the bed unmade, left used towels on the bathroom floor and just stacked a few clean towels outside the room! I'm using the 3-star rating because I'm feeling generous - Auxerre is a completely charming town that we absolutely loved, just don't stay at Le Seignelay.

Disappointing

We stayed here in 2017 and had a lovely time - great room, meal and above all people - the owner welcomed motorcyclists so returned this year. Oh dear. Our room had such poor fire safety provision it was alarming - rubbish piled up against a door, storage (boxes, polystyrene etc) under stairs and by the only door out. No fire check door - or door at all - on stairs and bars on upstairs window which would have made escape tricky. Shower drain blocked and a complete lack of friendliness or welcome from staff? Is there a new owner I wonder. What a shame, we won’t go back and reckon that just about any other hotel would have done better and been safer. Hey ho. I wish them well but perhaps clear the rubbish up?

Stopover

This hotel was disappointing- the room was of poor quality, not reflected in the price. There are much better and better value places to stay in Auxerre. I was travelling alone but was charged for two people. The room was really lacklustre and the welcome not friendly.
