Charming traditional hotel with a garden setting

We had a very pleasant stay at this charming, traditional-style hotel in Auxerre. Our ground-floor room faced the garden and was spacious, clean and comfortable, with direct access to the garden and its seating area - this was a nice feature. Perhaps a little more wardrobe space and a bin would have added more useful elements to the room but these are just minor points. There was plenty of free parking, and the air conditioning was very welcome during the hot weather. The reception staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was fairly limited but perfectly adequate. Overall, a charming hotel in a peaceful setting, and we would be happy to stay again.

A nice hotel for a stopover.

Personalized and friendly welcome.
The facilities, even though there is a pool, deserve a good refresh.
Breakfast is decent without any extra frills.
Large secure parking lot for guests' cars.

Very pleasant pool. Charming hotel even if the amenities can be a bit dated and the decor needs refreshing. Very good bedding. Location 5 minutes' walk from the city center

Very pleasant stopover to visit the beautiful city of Auxerre.

Numerous positive points make this hotel a very pleasant stopover: excellent breakfast, bordering on exceptional (great variety, very good bread, "made-to-order" pancakes, tables in the garden...), great kindness of the staff, pool towels available at will, quiet, cleanliness. You feel well welcomed and right at home.
A few minor drawbacks, however.
- in this historic residence, the charm is a bit too old-fashioned for my taste. In the common areas it doesn't bother me, but in my room, I admit I had trouble with the dark red "total look," walls and carpet included ; I would have liked more sobriety and light (OK for the curtains and drapes, but please repaint the walls eggshell or off-white when you get a chance!)...
- no possibility of a snack after breakfast (even in the form of a vending machine if one does not wish to mobilize staff). However, the restaurants are a bit too far away, especially in the evening for children. I solved the problem by buying sandwiches and bananas at Monoprix, because there is a small refrigerator in the room (it is true that one feels at home).

Excellent stay in a cool and quiet environment.

Perfect location just a few steps from downtown, but especially a beautiful park, a clear and heated pool, and a couple of owners who are generous with anecdotes about their magnificent home. There is still work to be done, but I think the place is in good hands!
