A moment of freshness

It was really by chance that we found this small restaurant around our visit.
Welcome by the chef for a reservation in a shaded place
A €19 menu with fresh produce

A lovely place we have returned to, great food and comfortable. Check in time however was wrong, for once we got to our hotel early and the owner had a note on the door asking guests to return at 5.30 so 2 hours to wait in a very small village rather than rest and refresh. Room lovely but a solid rather than see through door to the toilet would stop the light flooding the room if your partner goes to the loo.

HOTEL TO AVOID...

We spent a night at La Bougnate with a group of friends.
Ok meal - very average breakfast.
We had reserved 10 rooms: - 4 were allocated to us in the hotel (out of the 8 displayed by the host)
- 6 outside: 2 opposite the hotel in an annex and 4 in "so-called" guest rooms scattered throughout the village (which was not specified at the start).
The guest room allocated to us (belonging to an elderly person who made us wait for more than half an hour in the street, with our suitcases, in the company of the hotel owner, in order to give us the keys) was far from the standard promised on the hotel's website: room
not ventilated, smelling "musty", bathroom bordering on unsanitary, without any safety standards...(SEE THE ATTACHED PHOTOS).
Lamentable for a "boss" who distributes an impressive business card, with a list of references "as long as an arm"...
Inexcusable behavior and dishonesty of this gentleman who deceived the organizers by not respecting the contract, causing serious relational problems within the group, barely recognizing his wrongs and not agreeing to "rectify the situation" ( or so little...) at the time of settlement which was nevertheless "respectable".
Warning: extreme vigilance regarding the contract entered into!
Brief address to avoid...

Things to review

Room 1 is very well decorated, however the shower curtain is dirty, the bed is small, you can hear the other guests because it is located near the entrance. No Wifi. Breakfast is light just a croissant and bread. The team is very helpful,

Breakfast more than disappointing

Comfortable room, more than adequate value for money, almost cold impersonal welcome, so-called "gourmet" breakfast, lukewarm base of coffee, croissant blackened in the oven, 2 slices of white bread, jams and honey from large retailers and that's it! No cheeses or cold meats (we’re in Auvergne!)
