Wonderful start to the holiday

Thought I had booked but only realised I had not at arrival but there was a very comfortable room available.
We had time to thoroughly enjoy a walk around the extensive grounds including the wonderful kitchen garden from where so many great ingredients for our dinner came.
The room had everything that one needs and the bed extremely comfortable.
We had a super meal in the contemporary bistro and, like all we met, the staff were incredibly good and kind!
So near to Calais makes it a perfect spot for those from midlands/north crossing the channel for a night’s stop over.

Mixed experience

The Domaine de Beaulieu is taken over in the Relais et Châteaux. The "deluxe" room was really awful. Old 1980s decor, lamps that didn't work, stains on the back of the bed. In short, we asked to have a luxury room always in the new wing of the castle. Refusal, because supposedly complete, which was really not the case. Another room was allocated to us, better this time but Japanese toilet that did not work, a tiny bathroom and an air conditioning that we cut because clicking noise. So really not a 5 star level and even less Relais et Châteaux. Very expensive for fairly average services. On the other hand, the 2-star Michelin table was excellent with exorbitant prices.. example: 38 € for a glass of champagne and coffee 11 euros served with a plate of any kind of cuteness, like fast food, it was disappointing. An excellent breakfast (loaves and succulent pastries) and very varied closed our stay. In summary,
despite an exceptional table, our experience in Beaulieu is a mixed one. Too bad.

A few little improvements would have made our stay much better.

This was a great location to spend our last night before heading back to the UK following a tour of France. Just 40 mins from the tunnel it is perfect and they send you on your way with a fantastic breakfast. The grounds are lovely and the spa is great for a relaxing few hours. We had a delux room ( no 2) with terrace which was spacious and the bed was very comfy. The toto loo didn’t work and the shower overflows but as we were only staying one night we didn’t raise this with the hotel. We ate in the 2* Michelin restaurant which was exceptional. The attention in the bar was poor and would have made our stay much better. The tables needed cleaning, and we were left twice for 20 minutes having asked for drinks menus which doesn’t sound like much but when you’ve been driving for 4 hours is a lot. We would stay again as the price is good for such a nice spot and so convenient for an onward journey to the UK following.

An enchanting interlude. I recommend it for a moment with a partner, family, or friends.

A beautiful setting and environment, delicious cuisine, exquisite wines, exquisite desserts, incredibly good bread, beautiful and very comfortable rooms, and a most pleasant spa!
A weekend or more, depending on availability, that allows for an unforgettable experience. We indulge ourselves and have only one desire: to return.

Beautiful estate in nature but flat for dogs supposedly admitted

The establishment is located in a very beautiful area, like the Relais et Châteaux, it is a quiet and relaxing place despite the proximity of the road. We didn’t enjoy the place much as we were passing through, but were able to enjoy the restaurant La Brasserie and breakfast. The room is spacious, nicely decorated and modern, the mattress is firm and perfect, no noise, the place is well soundproofed. The bathroom is superb with bathtub and shower and above all it is very functional with toiletries from the brand Sothys.
The great added value of the place is of course its restoration, we tested the menu at 40 euros with dessert main course. Sincerely one of the best price quality considering the quality of the products, the originality of the associations, the accuracy of the seasonings, everything was perfect and succulent. Same for breakfast, 35 euros or 38 euros in the room, it is an extremely reasonable price compared to the quality and excellence of the products.
Big downside on the other hand for an aspect of the services, dogs are allowed but finally half, because we paid 70 euros for one night for two chihuahuas, without particular service, but especially the establishment does not allow dogs within the restaurant, so we had dinner on the terrace, fortunately the weather was pleasant at this time and especially we had to have breakfast in the room because they were not allowed in the breakfast room either while we loved to take it in the room. For 70 euros, sincerely I think it doesn’t make sense to make us pay so much with so many constraints.

Very good location
