Major disappointment.

We were unfortunately drawn to this place (Gîte 1).
We had planned to stay there for 10 days; we stayed one night and decided to return home the next morning despite the impossibility of being refunded! Here is our opinion on the gîte and its environment:
- photo no. 10/26 titled "bucolic garden" on the listing suggested that it was the gîte's garden; This is not the case: it shows another place in the village. The gîte's garden was tiny, dry, and dusty, without any landscaping or ornamental plants.
- The PVC garden furniture was worn and the barbecue was rusty and small.
- The description indicating that "this traditional house has been restored" led us to hope for accommodation in good general condition. But only the living/dining room was satisfactory (despite its lack of natural light). The kitchen cabinets (in red in the photo) and the countertop were dilapidated; the cooktop was dilapidated; the inside of the cabinets was all damaged; just like the appliances (damaged fridge, old yellowed microwave oven). Some walls were stained.
- The interior of the gîte was dark, even with the windows open, contrary to the impression given by the photos. There are few openings and most are small in size.
- The description mentioned an "outdoor terrace." In reality, there was only the small garden described above.
- The bathroom was also aging, with cracked tiles and an unwelcoming atmosphere.
- The pool was decent but its immediate surroundings were really not pleasant.
- The hamlet itself is not particularly pleasant: backyards of buildings in poor condition, abandoned objects waiting to be thrown away, a neglected caravan, construction materials left abandoned, etc.
- When we shared our disappointment with the owners via Airbnb requesting a refund, we received a response containing several inaccurate pieces of information or information unrelated to our complaint, which seemed to have the sole objective of intimidating us.

Nice location, terrible accomodation

We stayed at these gites for a week. While I cannot fault the location, which is beautiful, the accommodation itself is overall terrible and not good value for customers. The gite we stayed in was 3 bedrooms -- huge in fact, for our small party of 3 -- but was offered to us as the one we requested was booked. I'll start with the beds. They were hard as rocks. We might as well been sleeping on the tile floor. Most of the beds were also not beds at all but rather mattresses on frames, meaning if you say up you were leaning on the wall. One bed squeaked so loudly at any movement it was pretty much unusable, unless you enjoy waking yourself up every time you move. The beds were indicative of pretty much all of the furniture in the gite -- cheap, taking, non-matching. Bedside tables were plastic crates with nasty plastic overly bright lamps on them, meaning it was impossible to read at night, with anyone else next to you. The couch was about 50 years old, hideously ugly and just as uncomfortable, with cushions that sagged about 2 feet when one sat in them. By the end of the week, we all had backaches. The bedrooms were inadequately furnished in other ways -- with no proper drawers or an easy way to hang clothes. No mirrors, save one small one in the bathroom. The kitchen was also a nightmare. Keeping in mind this was a huge gite supposedly for up to 8 people, there were no proper chopping knives or larger utensils and the chopping board was the size of my palm. There were no kitchen 'extras' -- like salt and pepper or oil or herbs/spices to cook with. Not even a dish towel was supplied. I should mention as well the owner does not provide towels or sheets as part of the price and cleaning at the end of the stay is 50 euros extra. We were promised a bbq but the only one that was available hadn't been cleaned in about 10 years and there were no bbq tools anyway. The property's 'terrace' was the area outside of the front door where a plastic table was added, with no privacy. The swimming pool was absolutely freezing, covered in bugs and mold, and generally disgusting. When I say freezing, I do mean freezing. Not 'a bit cold but you get used to it' There was a thermometer in the pool and it registered 19C. Keep in mind that most indoor pools in Europe are heated to about 25-30C to make them comfortable for swimmers. The wi-fi that was promised was also woefully inadequate, only accessible at the 'club house' (a dark disgusting barn with a ping pong table in it) and incredibly slow. Considering the price we paid, we overall felt the owners had completely misrepresented the property to us and we were basically ripped off. The owners drive BMWs and own small planes. They own at least 10 properties in the village and have slowly been building up their holdings for 10 years (they told me). Considering the profit they must be turning, we couldn't believe how cheaply and nastily our gite was furnished. It just reeked of greed and stinginess. NOTHING extra was supplied. To say that we were hugely disappointed and a bit angry about it all is an understatement and I write this to help other families avoid a terrible experience.
