Hotel ideally located in the heart of the village
We spent 2 nights at the Relais St Jacques de Collonges. The hotel is ideally located in the heart of this beautiful village. The hotel's free parking is a little further away. Simple yet comfortable room, with good quality bedding. We did not have dinner at the hotel. Hearty breakfasts (fresh and crispy croissants). The young woman who serves the breakfasts is charming. A good place to enjoy the evening in the peaceful village.

Room ( n°10) very simple but clean Decoration non-existent 2 chairs and what to say bathroom year 50 with Plexiglass shower walls A ceiling fan would be welcome to reduce the heat coming from the roof
Another downside buy an umbrella to accompany your customers in heavy rain to load luggage in car

Une fois de plus, quelques rectificatifs s'imposent. Le mobilier de la chambre comporte : 2 chaises, 1 table et 2 chevets. La salle de bain ne date pas des années 50 mais des années 90. Quand aux parois de douche, elles sont carrelées, seule la porte est en aluminium et plexiglas. Le ventilateur se trouve à votre disposition à demeure dans la penderie. Quant à la chaleur, elle ne peut venir du plafond qui supporte 60cm d'isolant. Par contre, la chambre possède des volets que vous auriez pu avoir l'intelligence de fermer plutôt que de laisser votre fenêtre grande ouvert face au soleil. Pour finir, des parapluies placés à gauche de la porte de sortie de l'hôtel sont à la disposition des clients. Vous avez dû sans doute passer devant sans les voir. Enfin, le parking est mis gracieusement à votre disposition mais si vous ne souhaitez pas l'utiliser, la commune vous en offre plusieurs centaines payants. Toutefois, vous avez raison sur un point, nous songeons au contact de clients tels que vous, de plus en plus sérieusement, à prendre notre retraite.

Tiny room, no air conditioning, very insufficient fan, had too hot, old bathroom, sani grinder.......

1/ CHAMBRE MINUSCULE ? Soyez honnête, pour des raisons tarifaires vous avez choisi la chambre la plus petite destinée en principe à 1 personne.
2/ LA CHALEUR ? Soyez cohérente, un bâtiment situé en site classé, ce qui est notre cas, n'est pas autorisé à s'équiper de climatiseurs (décision de l'architecte des bâtiments de France).
D'autre part, si vous redoutez la chaleur, le sud en été n'est probablement pas la meilleure destination.
Pour conclure et devant une telle mauvaise foi, le reste de votre commentaire ne vaut pas mieux.

Collonges-la-Rouge is one of those places that look like something out of a medieval tale... dyed red.
* Description*
Located in the department of Corrèze, in the region of New Aquitaine (France), this small village is famous for its *red sandstone* constructions, which give it a unique and charming look. Surrounded by chestnuts and walnut trees, its cobblestone alleys meander between noble houses, conical towers and slate roofs. It is not for nothing known as _“the village of 25 towers”_ (1).
* Origin*
Collonges emerged in the Middle Ages, around a priory founded in the 8th century. Its rise came when it became part of the Vicomté de Turenne, which attracted nobles and merchants thanks to its tax privileges. The red color of its buildings comes from a geological fault rich in iron oxide that crosses the area, between Brive and Meyssac(1).
* Anecdotes and curiosities*
- It was *the first village* to be included in the prestigious list of _Les Plus Beaux Villages de France_, an initiative born here thanks to its former mayor Charles Ceyrac(1).
For centuries, their houses were abandoned after losing tax benefits in 1738. But in the 20th century, a group of neighbors founded the _Société des Amis de Collonges_, which promoted its restoration and tourist revival(1).
- The Maison de la Sirène, a 16th century house with a mermaid sculpted on its facade, houses a small ethnographic museum and is one of the most photographed corners of the village(1).
- On some facades you will see scallop shells: Collonges is also a *stage of the Camino de Santiago* in its passage through France(1).

A very friendly night
Very charming and full in the village, close to everything and without tourists from 5pm. Quiet. Nice walks to do. Lots of restaurants. Breakfast quality. Free parking a little further. Large bedroom and bathroom. Everything was perfect.
