Delightfully old-fashioned!

Stepping out the front door, you step back in time at this hotel. The boss (if it is the boss) is very affable. I only wanted a single bed, being alone, and he upgraded me. Nothing to do with impersonal hotels and copied/pasted from a chain, this one has its character! The floors crack, the building lives:)) The elevator is very new though The room is simple, but the bed comfortable. Double-glazed windows insulate many from street noise, and shutters can be unfolded if the sun hits too hard. Icing on the cake, the hotelier agreed to keep my luggage until 3pm, which allowed me to visit the castle of Compiègne of Napoleon III => to see!:)) then catch my train. See below my photos and their comments for this relaxing night. Thank you for everything!

You get what you pay for!
Went with a large group of elderly people. All the staff were exceptionally welcoming and really tried to make our stay a happy one. The lift was efficient and linen clean and room serviced daily. Absolutely nothing wrong with the simple breakfast provided. Wifi on the third floor was so weak as to be useless but reception on ground floor good.
Goodness knows when the hotel was last decorated. Very tired, peeling wallpaper and shabby rooms. No air con and in temperatures hitting 32C and combination of being on a main road and a noisy bar nearby with heavy metal band in full flow on one night, it was impossible to sleep.
No proper shower, just a bath tub with hose attached, difficult to use. Cold tap on basin was seized and unusable, despite attempts to free by management. Strangely, the TV was positioned a few inches below the high ceiling.
On the pluses, within walking distance of town and beside a superb restaurant, Le Bistrot de Flandre. At the hotel there is nowhere to socialise, no bar or lounge.

Excellent Staff

Quite a basic hotel but the staff were 5☆. Very friendly, even gave us a free room. Breakfast was good, not a great variety but more than plentiful.A great location for where we were heading and bars and restaurants near by. I would definitely use this hotel again and the staff cannot be praised enough, thank you.

Five star treatment!

Outstanding service and very friendly personnel. Room was clean and tidy. Excellent location very good value for money.
They went out if their way to make us feel comfortable and secure parking on-site is available.
Within walking distance to an array of bars and restaurants.
The hotel is a 2 star due to the amenities provided but the service provided was 5 stars. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Compiegne

A long weekend visiting the battlefields

The room was very comfortable and there is parking outside. Staff speak good English and are friendly Breakfast is a little limited but fine. Rooms are quite badly lit (this seems to be a common problem in hotels these days) No evening restaurant but a good one next door. Not sure what it is like in high season, but in early April hardly any restaurants are open on Sunday evenings!
