Beautiful B&B with graceful and welcoming hosts

We stayed for a total of 5 nights this month.
On arrival, we were very warmly welcomed by the owners Grant and Jan.
The house has been beautifully restored and although we were staying in their home, we were given complete privacy on the first floor.
The bedroom was large and airy and decorated to a high standard. It was very clean. The bed was as comfortable as our own at home, high praise indeed! Our large window opened out onto a vast vineyard and at night, the sky was filled with a vast array of stars.
The shower was large and the water pressure great.
The breakfast was lovely, fresh bread and croissants each morning, fruit, ham, cheese yoghurt - a good way to start the day.
There is a room available for guests on the ground floor where you can enjoy a glass of wine.
The town of Jarnac is a mere 5 minute drive, a lovely town with many restaurants, bars etc.
Grant and Jan were very helpful with regards to information relating to the local area. Their recommendations for eating and out and places to see was very helpful.
Considering Grant and Jan were experiencing a difficult and sad time they made us feel like part of the family and on leaving our mood was only brightened having the knowledge that we intend to return in April.
Thank you for opening your home to us. We both sincerely wish you every success as you very much deserve it.

Truly amazing Bed and Breakfast with Gites

I have stayed here for repeated years now, we have just departed this year and will definitely be returning next year. We have always stayed in the bed and breakfast where the rooms are large, clean and very homely. The showers are huge and the rooms are well equipped with teas, coffees and even green tea! Breakfast is a sizeable buffet and very nice. There is fast wifi throughout.
There are 2 brand new 2 bedroom gites which were shown to me by the owners, these are very sizeable. There are 2 bedrooms, 1 large double and 1 large twin. The bathroom is large, the front room / kitchen is huge and backs on to a private terrace right by the swimming pool.
The pool is a 10x5 m salt water swimming pool within extensive fenced grounds surrounded in all directions by vines. The swimming pool is a must - it's brilliant and the grounds safe and secure for children.
There are many local wine and cognac producers locally including a particularly good wine/pineau producer under 100m along the same road. Gondeville has a local shop, country walks and a river I have swum in. It is around a 1 mile walk or drive from Jarnac. The walk can be via road or cross country by the river. Jarnac is a most likeable town with nice bars, shops, market etc. There is Courvoisier, Hine, Louis Rouer and Brasstard cognac houses in Jarnac - most offer tours.
I could not recommend this establishment highly enough whether for an extended holiday or for an overnight / weekend away. The owners have created an amazing business here, they are lovely people and deserve to do well.
I have been been here for repeated stays and will continue to in the future, I have no negatives at all to report. I strongly recommend you to come and try yourself, you will not be disappointed.

Ideal resting place

If touring through Cognac country you would be hard pressed to find a better place to lay your head. It's clean, reasonably priced and very friendly. The english owners are very chatty and will gladly impart their local knowledge to help you enjoy your visit to this part of France.

Classy typically French countryside accommodation

Beautiful property which has been renovated to provide classy but typically French countryside accommodation. Gorgeous views from big windows Lovely pool Wonderful location which was easy to find.
Great hosts - very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. They had just had 2 new gites built - they looked great but were not available when we booked. Pity I would have loved to have stayed there.
Slight downside: When I booked the room - I noticed it said with Patio. I had thought that it had its own private patio - so was a little disappointed that there was nowhere really to sit out other than the owners patio area. Did think with all the land / pool / garden there would be more areas for sitting out with a drink / food. Maybe our over expectations as we hadn't realised it was a B&B and thought it was a small hotel.
Also maybe numbers or something on doors as another guest inadvertently came into our room by mistake when we were in bed!?!

A beautiful B&B

The B&B is located in Gondeville, which is only a few minutes from Jarnac, famous for it's Courvoisier cognac. The owners are lovely and welcoming with an in depth knowledge of the surrounding area. They can suggest restaurants to eat at, places to visit and things to do during your stay.
All the rooms have en suite bathrooms and are all on the first floor giving a lovely view of the vineyards that surround the B&B. It was all very clean, and there is even a living room just for guests to relax in. They provide a lovely breakfast to start your day, private parking, a large garden and a salt water swimming pool which is great for cooling down in and much nicer than a chlorine pool!
It is only 2-3 minutes in the car or a 15-20 minute walk to the town of Jarnac, which has some great bars and restaurants, the Courvoisier museum, a food market and little independent shops. Cognac is about a 15 minute car ride away.
Overall I had a great time staying at this B&B and will definitely visit again!
