Superb lunchtime meal in the restaurant

Three of us went to have lunch in the restaurant at La Porte Saint-Jean hotel. The restaurant was extremely busy and our time was limiting as we had a plane to catch at Limoges but we decided to chance it. We explained our situation to the lady in charge who was extremely helpful and suggested what would be best to order given our time constraints. We had a three course meal that was really superb, great value for money, and the lady in charge could not have helped us more.

If we are bothering you, tell us!

Big disappointment. Here is a summary of the most important shortcomings noted:
- No itemized invoice for the fees paid. After three nights, I had to HEAVILY insist to get the attached document (it was not given to me automatically, as should be the case during a stay in a hotel), written by hand, but not including the details of my stay: no breakdown. I had only received the receipt for my credit card payment (full payment of the stay before having the key!).
- The accommodation did not correspond to the description: on "booking", it is advertised that the accommodation includes an "independent air conditioner in the rooms": this is not the case. I reported the abnormally high temperature in our room (intense heat of August 2026). The manager's only response was: "I am not responsible for the weather conditions" (a laughable truism). I would have liked for this lady to offer me a solution like a "fan" to at least clear out the stifling air accumulated in the room, but finding a solution for her clients does not seem to have been part of her hospitality training. See Booking screenshot.
- We had to ask for shower gel (only two small containers placed at the beginning of the stay) and we almost ran out of toilet paper after three days, only one cup in the bathroom. Not a single visit to the room by the cleaning staff during the duration of our stay. Must one always ask?
- The Wi-Fi code is not provided spontaneously. Must one always ask for everything?
- To be sure of having a choice for breakfast, you must arrive among the first because there is no follow-up by the staff regarding shortages in the products offered.
- We asked for a second room key because we were two friends who did not necessarily operate on the same nighttime schedules. Response: "there is only one key for the room". What naive person is going to believe that a lock has only one key? I had the distinct impression of being faced with a person who was lying to me on the one hand, and who, on the other hand, had no desire to find a solution.
- Location in town: there is often noise, including early in the morning, when the municipal staff begins their work in the adjoining garden or when the market is being set up. Add to that the poorly soundproofed rooms...
- We had dinner there one evening: I ordered a "good" bottle of wine that arrived at the table already uncorked, without presentation, without being able to taste it, and at room temperature. A 2021 Loire at 84°F, what an oenological heresy! I asked for a cooler, but that also seemed to be a bother.
Conclusion: I had the impression that I was bothering them with my requests, which I nevertheless consider legitimate and proportionate. I have visited many hotels in France, but this is the worst in terms of customer service: a strong impression of being a bother.

Lamentable

Lamentable and to flee... how to summarize 30 minutes to wait outside to finally be forced to go to another hotel because no one has the reception (when we had indicated our time of arrival) and never anyone answered neither the bell nor the phone. 2 days later, account debited and a person telling us that we had never called, we just think we are dreaming

Sleep in your car will be much better!

Hotel booked via booking with air conditioning (proof on printed paper of booking). There was none (as by chance disappeared in August on the site) and booking and hotel refer responsibility it was about 35 degrees in the dingy rooms (3 booked for three nights). But it wasn't just that, a room where there was only boiling water to shower, one the window held open only with a shoe to corner it otherwise it closed and the other the window opened only swinging. We had a 60x60 angled shower cubicle in which we entered slant and we could not move after (weight 70 kg for my husband for 1m75) the shower head did not hold....in short we left after one night exhausted and managed after many parliamentations to get reimbursed one night out of three for the three rooms. Staff can kindly "we must consider ourselves happy that we are not in an hlm without air conditioning they answered us" and responsible ghost that it is impossible to see! ps when we see the photos of the rooms while they are tiny we hallucinate....

Expensive for not having heating

140€ for family room with 3 pdd and one offered. We're coming into the room. No heating. TV reception at half mast. One of the bedside lights out. The sheets are clean. Microscopic bathroom. Anyway. We're not coming back. It’s expensive to stop at the pits.
