I had a wonderful stay with my dog at this very old-fashioned family hotel. At first, I was a bit put off because it is very old and rickety. No AC, old shower, dark brown old furniture, small dark corridors, etc. But the place forced me to slow down and relax. The old lady was lovely and answered all my questions with charm and patience. The floorboards were so polished and beautiful. In fact, the place was immaculate. Extremely clean. My bed was old but comfortable, and I was in a top room with a little window which I could open and see over the town. With the fan provided, I was very comfortable and had a great sleep. The shower, with its old mixer tap, was very quick to get to temperature with great pressure. Just loved my stay.

The essentials

Hotel dated certainly but not unpleasant surprise, very welcoming boss, breakfast in the back room of the adjoining bar, do not expect many frills; everything is clean, you feel a bit in a guesthouse. For a short stay is enough especially since we are in the city center... then of course at La Souterraine you are never far from the center, and when you are not from the area there is not much going on, but it was worth the detour. In the morning at the time of the coffee bar side two or three regulars were, themselves, in rosé wine, why not, they were maybe up at dawn ... we imagine with a certain nostalgia that this bar swarmed with people in its time, besides the boss also made restaurant, she gave it up for lack of labor ... really shame

beautiful old-fashioned hotel

A very friendly welcome and a beautiful location, for this small old-fashioned hotel, remained "in its juice", but which brings the necessary for a pleasant stay. The property owner is adorable, helpful and attentive, and serves us a very good breakfast on the terrace.

SAD & TIRED PLACE

After walking 38 straight days on the Way of St. James (Chemin de St. Jacques), I can say without doubt this was the worst hotel of all 38 we stayed in. Our room was so sad and tired and in desperate need of updating. The bedding was threadbare and the pillows were so old and lifeless they looked like the thinest "crepes". There are quaint hotels and then there are sad, dilapidated ones. Hotel Jinjaud was not for us. Lastly, the breakfast was meager with just bread, butter and marmalades. Look for another place to stay!
