Excellent Palmeraie
The location is excellent, close to the beaches and to the small harbour of Pointe Rouge, where regular ferries connect to the Vieux Port and trip boats leave to the Calanques. The house is delicious, with a beautiful garden, a large and well-kept swimming pool, a very nice space around it. The suite, where my wife and I stayed for 3 nights, is very spacious, absolutely clean and perfectly furnished. The owner is extremely kind: ready to provide any type of information and advice and always available. I am not used to write comments, but I feel like I should recommend La Palmeraie because we really found ourselves at home there

Lovely quiet retreat close to the beach and coast road
We are in agreement with "john m" below and NOT "Maximilien K"! We had a really nice family break here staying in the studio which was large and clean. It comprised a sitting room/kitchenette, toilet, bathroom and double bedroom and opened right onto the poolside. Breakfast was excellent and taken "outdoors" by the pool under a canopy. The grounds of La Palmeraie are small but filled with trees and shrubs giving it a lovely ambiance. Yes, as others have said, the pool does get little bits of vegetation in it but this has to be expected when surrounded by such lush greenery.
Suzy doesn't speak much English but enough to get by and is warm and welcoming. The pool is only "open" at certain times (10.00-12.30 and 3.00-5.00) but as we were out, this didn't stop our enjoyment - we were still able to relax in the water and then poolside in the many chairs and loungers after a day out.
La Palmeraie is close to the beach and corniche road (about a 10 minute walk) and we found plenty of places to eat there. The city centre (Old Port) is a 30 minute bus ride down the coast road although one easy change of buses is required. Take the No.19 to "La Plage", hop off and cross the road and then take the No.83 straight to the Old Port. Tickets can be purchased on the bus or from RTM offices in the city centre. We had a great time.

Awful! Avoid this place...
Better to write it in English. I spent one day on July, 5th 2015. The only thing that this place has to offer is the pool. Unfortunately, you will not be able to use it at lunch, before 10:30 or after 18:30. The host is an old lady who obviously doesn't like at all to do B&B.
She spends her time to complain and explain you what you are not allowed to do at her place.
Lots of rules that totally kill the pleasure to be there. You will not be able to arrive before 16:00 or even 17:00 and if you leave after 11:00, you will be handled like a thief.
The wifi doesn't work, actually she turns it down and even in the studio (one of the 3 rooms) where there is a kitchen, you are not allowed to do your own cooking.
Of course no shampoo in the shower...
Avoid this place if you want to spend a relaxing time.

Nous sommes très etonnés de lire votre double mécontentement (en anglais et en sudéois), et nous regrettons de ne pas vous avoir apporté entière satisfaction lors de votre séjour d'une nuitée à La palmeraie. Notre politique est d'acceulllir nos hôtes avec attention et bienveillance. Vous pouvez d'ailleurs apprécier par les précédents avis que nous répondons avec courtoisie aux demandes de chacun, afin de leur laisser un souvenir agréable de la Palmeraie et de Marseille.
Cependant il est certain, que des horaires de baignade sont aménagés pour des raisons de sécurité et sanitaires (entretien quotidien de la piscine).
Concernant la Wifi, nous recevons régulièrement des hôtes, en voyage d'affaire parfois, et nous n'avons à ce jour rencontré aucun desagrément sur notre connexion.
Le check out se fait à 11h, afin de permettre à notre personnel de travailler dans des conditions favorables pendant la canicule, et afin de préparer au mieux l'arrivée de nos prochains hôtes. Nous ne pouvions à ce titre, pas vous laisser les clés de la Palmeraie, en votre jour de départ.

Breakast with Suzy
We stayed here for four days.
La Palmeraie is a delightful residence. Situated on the outskirts of Marseille with the nearby beach just a bit of a walk away. There are plenty of snack places down there to have a drink or a bite to eat at lunch time.
Suzy is an excellent host. Charming and most welcoming.
The breakfasts are wonderful. A good supply of croissants, crepes and coffee and all served with Suzy’s home-made jam – delicious!
Our room was comfortable and well equipped for storage of cases if you are doing a longer stay (or like us bring everything but the kitchen sink on holiday. Alright, me)
It was also great to have use of the verandah and the pool. Good if you want to cool off after a day out. Breakfasts get served out here when the weather is up to it.
Things to do are, of course, explore Marseille. About twenty minutes away depending on the traffic. Worth doing once - if only for the experience!
We particularly enjoyed MuCEM. This is, as others have pointed out already, well worth a visit. Cassis is a must visit. We explored the market there and then did a boat trip which takes you around the famous calanques. We did the 45 minute trip which takes you around three of them. Just the right length of time, for us personally, to be out. The national park also is a place to get to.
All in all we would highly recommend la Palmarie.

Lovely!
You will enjoy this unique B&B/ self catering French boutique style accommodation! The French theme continues throughout the property - furnishings, food, location and the surrounding area. Suzy is very welcoming and kind offering breakfast at a shared table with the other guests overlooking the pool. You can get to local places easily by local transport - boat or bus and it's quite cheap. The sea with its lovely prom is 10 minutes away. We stayed in the Suite which was roomy, beautifully furnished, modern and practical. We really enjoyed the freedom of being able to come and go as we pleased.
Here are few things to bear in mind!
If you are travelling to the airport, you can get to the property by local transport but it's a bit tricky and long if you're not sure where to go. The taxi was 80 euros which was a bit steep!
The pool is cold and the jucuzzi was not working when we were there but it was the same temperature!
The pool is only able to be used between 10.30am-12 and 3-5 which was a bit annoying.
If you don't speak any French, it might be difficult to communicate with Suzy and the locals to a great extent.
There are some really beautiful vases, pictures and ornaments in the Suite so be really careful that you don't break anything!
There are limited cooking facilities - no rings, pans, cooking items, large plates, bread board, grill. There was a microwave but it couldn't be plugged in!
Don't be put off, though, it's really lovely and Suzy is very keen for you to have a great time!
