Overall great experience
This is a great B&B very close to the city center. The owner, Jean-Luc is very accommodating serving breakfast and helping with recommendations for things to do and places to eat. The breakfast was fresh and delicious and served in a room that also serves as a small store for wine and gourmet treats. The town center is a short walk away and offers lots of restaurants, a fresh market, other shops and even historic sites. Our room was on the second floor on the street side so we could hear vehicles at night and people in the street which we loved. Also there is no air conditioning but with the windows open and the fan on, it was pleasant. Overall we loved this B&B and will plan to go back and stay there again.

Didn't stay see reason in explanation - beware late checkin time
Sadly we couldn't stay in the B&B and rightly got charged for not staying. We tried to cancel after the cancellation period had expired. We had lots of communication with the owner Jean-Luc about our problems. I'd just been released from an unexpected 6 night stay in hospital and so was unable to haul my luggage around Mulhouse until check in time of 17:00. Jean-Luc wasn't in Mulhouse on the Monday we were arriving and the shop was shut. There's nowhere else in Mulhouse - railway or info centre to leave luggage. We were arriving from Paris by train at 10 am to go to the motor museum and to visit the Christmas markets. So immediately that we said we weren't staying our credit card was debited - which is fair as it was within the booking rules, however, our dilemma was, we could have still been offered the breakfast - would have been an expensive breakfast. When we did get to Mulhouse and check in to our new hotel accommodation, we walked past the B&B to check it out. We wanted to see what we'd missed out on and paid so much for. And lo and behold. The shop was shut, it should have been, but the B&B had all the windows on the first floor wide open and seemed to be being aired. Now our observation of many places in France and particularly Mulhouse, you wouldn't leave windows wide open in a small side street with the building unoccupied. So, who was there? The cleaner? Jean-Luc knew the exact time we were arriving as we discussed our train was coming in from Paris and French trains are rarely late. So beware, the check in time is quite late and the owner takes advantage of the booking rules.

Comfortable B & B with Cautions
The reviews from the internet are correct. Maison Mondrian is a very comfortable
B & B in an excellent location. Everything worked in the room, the bed is comfortable, there is heating, and the structure is modern and well-decorated. We enjoyed being there. However, we did have a couple of problems that we will share as a word of caution.
First, we reserved dinner (table d’hôtes) for the evening we arrived and received by email confirmation of that reservation. When we arrived, the owner said we had not reserved. When I explained that I had the email that confirmed the reservation, he explained that they don't do meals for just 2 people. I can not see on the internet site or the advertisement in the front of their building that meals have a minimum number of people. He offered no apologies and did not inform us of this information before our arrival. I've since sent the email to him and did not receive a response. There are lots of good to excellent restaurants in Mulhouse so eating is not a problem.
Second, the morning that we checked out I asked for a bill. We've stayed in many
B & Bs in France and Europe and we always receive a detailed bill. He gave us verbally an amount to pay. It seemed a bit higher than expected so I wanted to look at the bill. He explained that we had to ask the night before for a bill because he had to print it from his home and could not print it in the morning. In addition, he said that professionals want bills; not tourists. He offered to send us the bill by email. That was 7 November and despite a reminder email, we have not seen a bill.
In summary, the B & B is very comfortable. We recommend keeping your emails of correspondence, plan to eat in one of the many restaurants in Mulhouse, and ask for a bill the night before.

Et vous avez raison, je ne me souvenais pas de votre réservation pour une table d'hôtes. Je vous ai d'ailleurs présenté mes excuses à ce sujet, contrairement à ce que vous dites dans votre commentaire.
Mais vous avez aussi oublié de dire que je vous ai donné un document que nous avons créé pour nos résidents, sur lequel figure un plan de la ville, et identifiés par un numéro, une vingtaine de restaurants que nous avons testés pour vous, et qui se trouvent à 5 minutes à pieds de notre maison, afin que votre séjour soit le plus agréable possible.
Concernant la facture, il est exact que nous les imprimons systématiquement lorsqu'il s'agit de voyages d'affaires, et non pas lorsque ce sont des personnes âgées qui voyagent pour leurs loisirs.
Quant au montant à payer, il était de supérieur de 2 euros, à cause de la taxe de séjour. Pas de quoi en faire toute une histoire, si ?
Je vous ai effectivement proposé de vous envoyer cette facture par e-mail, mais votre attitude pendant votre séjour était tellement désagréable (vous n'avez même pas eu la politesse de me saluer au moment de votre départ), que j'avoue sincèrement ne plus avoir été motivé pour faire un effort supplémentaire.
Mon conseil : soyez plus aimable et plus ouverts aux autres lors de vos voyages, vous verrez qu'alors tout se passe tellement mieux.

Amazing!!
Highly recommend this beautiful maison. Jean-Luc was incredibly kind and a super host. The room was v modern/stylish and comfortable. Central location was great with cafes/restaurants/bars all around. Breakfast was lovely in their artisan cafe. Wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you :)

An interesting cross between a hotel and a B&B
Maison Mondrian is a very well run and located establishment. It is a 10 minute walk from the railway station (or take a taxi) and about 100 metres from the tram stop for travel to the museums (Cité de l’Automobile and Cité du Train etc). It is also right in the historic centre of Mulhouse. I don't know where the parking is because we didn't drive to Mulhouse.
The hosts, Jean-Luc an interior designer and Irene a painter, run a little shop and eatery stocked with very high quality food and other products. The rooms are above the shop and have a separate entrance. We arrived during the work day so we needed to be greeted through the shop. This was not their preferred method as they are very busy running the shop at that time and they prefer guests to arrive after 5 pm.
The establishment is like a hotel in that it does not seem like you are in someone's home (though you are because they live on the top floor). The building has a purpose built interior and has the shop and separate entrance on the ground floor, the guest rooms on the first floor and the hosts on the top floor. On the other hand it seems like a B&B in the way you are treated personally and the breakfast is like a B&B. The breakfast is beautiful, not like a hotel with a million choices, but like a B&B where you are served what is prepared for you. The quality is amazing and Irene cooks a homemade cake (different each day) so that you get a slice each morning. Delicious.
Jean-Luc is a very welcoming host and a pleasure to chat with over breakfast.
