Very nice room

We spent 3 nights in the very beautiful and spacious room "Puy Griou".
The bedding is really comfortable.
Only downside, it was a little cool in the room.
Breakfast with local products or homemade, very good.
The welcome was very good, the gentleman helped us carry our luggage. Subsequently the reports were colder but nothing unpleasant.
Free parking nearby.
We did not eat at the restaurant of the hostel.

Good size rooms, very friendly proprietor and staff

We stayed here for a couple of nights, at the beginning and end of a hiking holiday in the Volcans de Cantal. It's a handy location, close to the main road and railway station but on the way up to the main sites, cafes and shops in the town. Our room was large, gracious and comfortable, and the proprietor and staff were friendliness itself, offering us useful information, genuinely interested in our plans, and patient with our slow French (though they have enough English to cope if you don't speak any French). The restaurant meals were fine for a couple of nights, with some local specialities, though the table d'hôte menu is quite short so if you were staying more than a night or two you'd probably want to explore other possibilities for eating - there are a number in Murat or nearby. We did suffer very badly from mosquito bites here; no doubt nothing to do with the hotel, but with the neighbourhood, but anyway, take an effective repellent.

Excellent hotel in a good central location, just right for exploring the area.

We had one of the two rooms with balconies and it was well worth it. Great views, lots of space, ensuite. On site restaurant top class with local specialities, obviously popular with the locals. Very friendly and welcoming patron and and hard working, efficient staff. Murat is a very good base for exploring the area, the Tourist Office first class and we would definitely use the Volcans again.

Etape incontournable dans le Cantal

Fin de notre traversée du massif central à murat, quelle chance de trouver cette auberge. La chambre est spacieuse à la décoration soignée,comme l'ensemble de l'établissement. Au petit déjeuner d'excellentes pâtisseries maisons faites par notre hôtesse. Le restaurant propose des spécialités locales. A prendre comme camp de base pour séjourner dans le Cantal.

Tres belle decouverte

Un choix stratégique de prendre Murat comme base de depart d’un petit tour du Cantal. Et quelle bonne idée d’avoir choisi cet hotel-auberge. La chambre est nickel, spacieuse et super propre (renovation recente?), deco soignée, chic et sobre, literie confortable et salle de bais spacieuse. Au deuxième étage sans ascenseur mais notre hôte a insisté pour porter notre valises. Ces quelques marches sont bienvenues pour eliminer les calories du ponti et autres spécialités du Cantal. Nous avons dîné sur place (serveuse adorable) et pris un petit déjeuner vraiment complet et très bon. Le patron nous a bien conseillé sur les choses a voir dans le coin de façon très agréable. Notre petit tour du Cantal nous a donné envie d’y revenir, cet endroit et les gens qui s’en occupent aussi !
