Location & Design

Loved the design of the doubletree, the colour-scheme, spacious rooms with lots of shelving and technology power outlets (usb A, usb c). The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was luxurious with a large shower and lovely bathroom products. Check-in was friendly and efficient and we were upgraded (special acknowledgment to Mountain behind the counter). The exclusive Doubletree cookie is always an added bonus. We chose this hotel for its proximity to the train station and for that alone it is a great location. There is also a Starbucks next door which we opted for over the hotel breakfast. There is complimentary tap water in the lobby so you can refill your own bottles. The pool is quite underwhelming and barely meets the criteria to be classed as a ‘pool’. The beach is about a 20 minute walk or you can catch the tram. I would definitely choose the Doubletree if I were to return to Nice. The staff (Mountain & Jean Batiste) left a lasting impression.

Easy access to taxis, Uber and train. Lots of restaurants nearby. A bit of a walk to the old town. Not very near the cruise port.

Great Location

Great Hotel and Location. Literally right next-door to the train station.. Great for solo travelers. Conveniently located in old Town. Only downfall is the restaurant staff is less knowledgeable in customer service…. The food was OK.. but they lack in proper etiquette and customer service… Better Hotel hospitality is needed…

Very good, central location

Centrally located, next to train station and just a 20 minute walk to the Promenade or Old Town, but still able to enjoy good night sleeps.
Helpful staff from front desk to ground floor doorman throughout our stay. Good assortment for breakfast, and restaurant is an outside franchise but was very good (note, you can’t charge to room, so have a card with you!)

Disappointing

First the positives-a very unusual building-although it only occupies a fraction, the rest is taken up with another hotel, burger bars and a gym. The entrance is easily missable.
The reception staff are the best part of this hotel- friendly and helpful. The beds are also very comfortable.
Now the many negatives- our room, which we paid more for, smelt, the housekeeper bought an air conditioning unit the following day which improved things but they removed it after one day. The room overlooks the end of nice railway station and a motorway- if we’d have known that we would never have booked. The windows won’t open, understandably, but are dirty on the outside and the outlook very depressing.
The pool is so tiny-another reason we booked. The waiters on the rooftop bar pounce as soon as you sit down which makes you feel uncomfortable if you just want to sit outside.
The breakfasts are expensive and although offering a wide choice, the hot food is only Luke warm-the waiters are unhelpful-if asked to find cutlery etc and don’t offer to clear plates.
The saving grace are the reception staff-the only jewels in this Hilton’s crown.
We left after our booked days and moved to a hotel on the seafront. Wow!
