An outstanding and memorable stay
My only gripe was that on one of the days when sunbeds were in short supply around the outdoor pool with a ‘no reservation policy’ a number of guests expressed frustration to staff that sun beds were being reserved for the owners of the hotel who were not present. Not a great look or way to treat paying guests. However this didn’t overshadow the stay and would highly recommend the hotel.

Thank you very much for your exceptional review and for awarding us a perfect rating.
We are truly honoured by your kind words and delighted to know that your stay left such a memorable impression. Your recognition is the greatest reward for our entire team and inspires us to continue creating exceptional experiences for our guests.
We also appreciate you taking the time to share your observation regarding the sunbeds by the rooftop pool. We would simply like to clarify that the sunbeds were not reserved for the hotel's owners, but for guests staying in one of our Prestige Suites, whose package includes reserved sunbeds as part of the experience. We nevertheless understand how this may have been perceived and appreciate you bringing it to our attention, as it highlights the importance of ensuring clear communication.
Thank you once again for your recommendation. We very much look forward to welcoming you back to Maison Albar Le Victoria in the near future.
Warm regards,
Maison Albar Le Victoria

An excellent experience, but a couple of niggly gripes
Location – Superb; close to the Promenade and providing easy access to all that Nice and the Cote d’Azur has to offer. The old town, Colline du Chateau, Gare Nice-Ville are all accessible and the nearest tram station is a 5 minute walk and the nearest bus station is a 2 minute walk. (5 star)
Concierge – We used the service to order a taxi to get to the airport and to take us and our luggage to meet the taxi due to the road in front of the hotel being closed to vehicles. Everything went smoothly. (5 star)
Front desk (floor 1) – All the staff we encountered were charming and helpful. Check-in and out were professional and stress-free. (5 star)
Deluxe Room (city view) – Our room on the 5th floor provided reasonable views of the city and contained a balcony with a table and two chairs. The décor was superb throughout; there was plenty of quality wardrobe space for two people, the bed was incredibly comfortable and the bedding in-keeping with the hotel’s star rating. Similarly the large bathroom and wet room, including the Ortigia toiletries. The air conditioning and lighting was superb and streaming services were available on the large television. (5 star)
Rooftop pool and bar area – This area reflects the boutique nature of the hotel. It has 25 loungers and a similar number of comfortable chairs. The pool manager was friendly and service-orientated. The pool itself was a sanctuary during the 35 degree heat we encountered. The pool food and drinks menu isn’t extensive, but the quality is good and there is certainly a nod in the direction of healthy food, well-presented.
The bar menu is extensive and the young staff provided excellent service. (5 star)
Taulissa Restaurant – We took breakfast here on 8 consecutive mornings, which was a great start to every single day. The choice and quality of food was very good; the service was excellent in a relaxing way. We had a 9 month old in our party and the staff interaction with her was delightful.
We had one celebratory dinner at Taulissa and again the service was excellent and the food and drinks were very good. (5 star)
Everything considered, this was a great stay and we would definitely return, but probably not in peak season.
Our only gripes are two-fold:
Firstly, although my wife and myself received written congratulations pre-stay on our anniversary, there was no further mention of it until we booked a table at Taulissa for our anniversary meal. There was no room upgrade or a bottle ‘on the house’; just a 10cm diameter cake delivered to our room as a result of the restaurant booking. I expected a bit more ‘give’ by management following the extensive ‘take’ as a result of my pre-stay payment for accommodation.
Secondly, the hotel’s policy (contained on their website under the ‘terms’ of using the rooftop pool) states that access is prohibited for children under 5 years old. This ‘term of use’ was confirmed to me pre-stay by email in response to my querying it, but not carried out in practice when I queried it again during our stay having seen children under 5 years of age using the pool. My query was then classified as a ‘misunderstanding’.
A far better approach would be to welcome children of all ages, provided they abide by the unspoken rules and behave appropriately. The sensible pool manager would oversee this with great finesse and charm.
