Traditional chalet where we celebrated a splendid New Year's Eve.
Very characteristic rooms, although the window darkening was nonexistent and the open bathrooms did not allow for any privacy. The sauna and outdoor hot pot left much to be desired and should be reviewed; the cinema room and billiards provided moments of entertainment. In general, it would need renovation, although the traditional atmosphere, especially during the Christmas period, made the stay magical.

Absolutely fabulous
Went as a couple, wife could ski I'd never put a ski boot on. From the outset I can only express our total gratitude for the assistance in planning the holiday from Josy and Joe. All I had to do was organise the flights. Transfers from and back to Turin, ski kit hire, ski lessons(boy am I glad I had 6 of those - thank you Julian my instructor and Sebastian who honed the wife skills) and daily transport from the accommodation to Villeneuve and back courtesy of Joe were all excellently organised and arranged by the team Joe and Josy who we feel we really got to know as if we were part of the family.
We shared the holiday with a group of people half our age who we'd never met before but who welcomed us into their circle. Which made for some entertaining evenings with 2 old dudes mixing with 3 other young couples. Great fun and one particular great impersonation!!!! This was all made possible by the relaxing atmosphere created at Chez Bear.
Meals are done as a group. Cooked by Will with Lissy(not Lizzy) and Joe acting front of house. Lissy provided details of what the next meal would be which enabled the team to adjust if necessary to take account of allergies, preferences etc. A bottle of red and white wine comes with the meal after "the wine talk" from Lissy describing each bottle and how it links to the meal. Other drinks are always available 24 hours and they operate an honesty book which guest fill in and settle at the end of the holiday.
The meals are varied and different every day. My favourites were the duck in plum sauce and the chicken wrapped in parma ham. The wife was the slow roasted lamb.
Dinner was served at 8pm as a group which worked very well for us and helped bond us to the "youngsters"
Breakfast is around 8am with a hot option and a continental option.
We had to be at the slopes for 9.15am for the lesson but the whole group went together as previously mentioned transported in the van by Joe.
The resort has an excellent guide map, which you can see/download online. This was helpful for ski runs and importantly arranging rendezvous'.
Wednesday is the staffs day off (apart from the transfers to and from the slopes for poor Joe) so its continental breakfast. Evening meal is out in the resort which the team can and in our case did recommend a restaurant. Joe also taxied us there and back. Another lovely occasion mixing with our fellow guests.
The leisure facilities are amazing. We didn't use the sauna but did make regular use of the outside hot tub along with a bottle of Prosecco. The view of the surrounding mountains and luckily a full moon rising were just fantastic.
The last day ended with the whole Group drinking in La Grotte and after diner all getting in the hot tub at about 10.30pm. Excellent last evening. And in the La Grotte we all met the legend who is Cormack - (top marks to Steph - we all know what for!!!!)
There is a nice comfy lounge, scene of some funny evening entertainment with group games and quizzes.
And there's The Cave!!!! which is the cinema and has a Pool table.
All in all we had an excellent time and would highly recommend Chez Bear.
Thanks Joe, Josy, Lissy and Will.

*must read*
The communication between customer and host was phenomenal throughout the entire process. From booking, until the moment we arrived home we were merely a WhatsApp message away from everything we needed to know regarding logistics, costs, and general advice.
Upon arrival at the chalet, we were instantly made to feel comfortable and had a fresh mountain meal prepared for us accompanied with wine, followed by a dip in their outdoor, wood-fire hot tub, with overlooking the stunning surroundings, which were simply wonderous.
Day 1 on the slopes, we had individual lessons booked for us through hosts Joe and Josy, which fully equipped us with all the essential tools to tackle the mountains alone. In addition to the lessons, our hosts also took care of ski passes and ski rental making the whole experience totally effortless.
Joe, who is a top man, is also an extremely competent snowboarder and was even kind enough to join me on the mountain once to share some expert knowledge, which really helped me develop my snowboarding ability! The rest of the week I spent perfecting my snowmanship, and I am now preparing for Beijing Winter Olympics 2022.
The chalet itself is rife with tradition and ski lodge decor, which makes for a truly authentic experience. The classic appearance of the chalet is warm and comfortable and truly encapsulates all of the French charm. This is complemented by a number of modern touches such as the cinema / games room, and sauna! They even have a fully functioning pizza oven which made for a truly fantastic evening making our own home made pizzas regaling stories and sharing delicious local wine.
When it came to leaving, we were heartbroken. Our first ski holiday had come to an end and 5 days had not been long enough! We said our goodbyes and Joe, (top man) kindly drove us to the airport.
The following day we booked our second stay and the rest is history!
Highly highly recommend this chalet. Maximum points!
