Rave Review - June 2026 Stay
The breakfast at the hotel features high-quality products from Corsica in addition to the normal fare. Everything was delicious. The staff was friendly, helpful, and welcoming every day.
The property is extremely quiet and peaceful, though we did not feel out-of-place at all having our son with us.
The staff at the hotel are absolutely wonderful. I was especially appreciative of Phillippe, who assisted me in having a special gift delivered for my husband and son, and who always took great care in assembling my son's stuffed animals in a cute way when tidying our room for us. Staff were also very helpful in arranging taxis for us when we went to other parts of the island and to/from the airport.
We are from California, but I speak OK French (level B2). I had no problems at all communicating in both English and French; staff were always available to assist us no matter our needs.
We can't wait to return :)

Exceptional setting!!
In this hotel, there is an excellent restaurant run by Fany and César (yes, indeed). She welcomes us with a smile and incredible kindness, along with a team of young servers who are just as cheerful and efficient in service.
César, whom we caught a glimpse of, produces very fine and pleasant cuisine with his team.
A must-visit address for its cuisine and its setting.
Thank you both for these few days spent together.

Minus two stars
I will be direct: what I experienced at the Hotel La Roya in Saint-Florent is an experience I wish upon no one, and I will keep a public record of it for as long as this platform exists.
I was strolling peacefully on the beach of Saint-Florent. I spot the hotel La Roya. I enter through the beach access — open, accessible, nothing prohibits it. My plan: to spend a lovely day, settle on a sunbed, and enjoy a good buffet. I had more than enough means to do so, and I was ready to spend it there.
First contact with a head waiter: impeccable. Buffet at €90, she directs me to the reception. The receptionist: perfect as well, smiling, professional. She confirms the rates to me — €30 for half a day, €40 for a full day — and tells me to go see directly on the beach so they can set me up.
And that is where the circus begins.
A manager — clearly convinced of being the guardian of the temple — comes out of her office located just behind the reception. She listened to my entire conversation. She repeats the rates that I already know. I tell her that I understand, thank you, and I head back to the beach.
She follows me.
As if I were suspicious. As if someone who enters through the beach to ask for a sunbed at a hotel is necessarily shady. I am on the private beach of the establishment, I am looking for a beach attendant or an employee to set me up, and this person comes towards me to say: "The restaurant is over there, sir."
I did not ask you for the restaurant. I want a deck chair.
"It's full, sir."
Full. Magically full. Just thirty seconds ago, the receptionist invited me to settle in. Full without excuse, without explanation, without even bothering to check anything. Just that little condescending smile and that look that says everything without saying anything: you are not the kind of clientele we want here.
This is what La Roya in Saint-Florent is like. A 4-star establishment that thinks it is above people, with a manager who follows visitors on the beach like a private security agent, who makes decisions based on the customer’s appearance, and who feels entitled to judge who deserves to spend their money in this hotel or not.
I had an excellent day at the private beach next door, where I was welcomed like a normal human being.
La Roya can keep its deck chairs, its €90 buffet, and especially its condescension. This type of behavior, in 2026, is called pure contempt. And contempt can be documented.

Bien cordialement,
La Direction de l'Hôtel La Roya
