Great food and very welcoming

Ate here two nights during our stay as we liked it so much.
Food was great. Good beef fillets and maigret de canard. Generous salad starters and tasty desserts.
Discovered a great Alsacian wine, Sylvaner.
Service in this family run restaurant is very welcoming and friendly.
Highly recommend.

One big disappointment!

When we arrived, the hotel was closed. After waiting for about an hour, we called the contact number provided and the hotelier said he would not be there today, but that our room was ready. We were given directions to the room, which turned out to be a musty, dark room in the roof of a barn, far from the pictures on the hotel's website and not what we expected of a hotel room. The services that were also advertised, such as the restaurant, garden, swimming pool, etc., were inaccessible. So we left immediately. According to Booking.com's terms and conditions, we lost the entire amount we had already paid for 3 nights!

Dinner was filling and tasty, but on expensive side; menu just in French

This is the only place to eat in this little village. My hotel sent me there. The menu is just in French. The waiter and cook know very little English; we resorted to Google translate to explain what was on the menu. The cordon bleu in chicken was tasty, but the gravy it was in was very rich. The mixed vegetables and potatoes were nice. 16.50 euro price seemed just a little high. The kids plate was 10 euro. They did take my VISA credit card.
This is a review of just the restaurant; as I am staying in another hotel. I am not sure how to get this as a place to eat (not a place to stay) in Trip Advisor.

Rather basic for the price

This property is a bit difficult to call - largely because Frederic and Nadine are such lovely people - but it does fall down in some respects.
First impressions are not encouraging. You drive up to a high-sided plank barn which has seen better days and which is attached to a more substantial dwelling - the only door is an uninviting glass panelled single door with a curtain across inside. Then you have to find the host!
The host - Frederic - is a joy, totally affable and cheery and happy to carry all your bags in one go upstairs to the rooms. Our room was large, but full of beds so that there was actually not a lot of room for people to move around. Furniture other than the beds is minimal, largely because there is nowhere to put any. The wardrobe was large but there were only three non-bar hangers which is not great for guests wishing to unpack and hang things up. The bathroom was fine, with most of what one needs, and a good size.
We stayed for three nights but there was no bed-making or bathroom cleaning/tidying - we had to do it ourselves. Given that we paid the same price for all nights, we felt that the room should have been re-presented properly each night.
Breakfast was just bread/butter/jam and coffee. It must be at least twenty years since we have experienced such a meagre offering in a French hotel or chambre d'hote.
In the evening. the Auberge is the only place in the village to eat or drink and is open to all. The menu is limited and basic but portions are huge - like huge! We really struggled to begin to do justice to it. The food is good and wholesome but such large portions can dent the appetite when they arrive on the table. Less is more!
A lot of this review is a bit negative which is a shame because the hosts are so lovely. However it would not take much thought and effort to make the place great.
