Close to Restaurants + On-Site, Secure Car Parking

We recently stayed for two nights at the Hotel du Manoir. The location was excellent and it was an easy walk (less than 10 min) to Rue Colbert which is lined with restaurants and bars. Close by are a couple of sight-seeing highlights - the Musee des Beaux Arts and St Gatien’s Cathedral. They were were only 3 - 5 min walk away.
If like us, you have a car then one of the big advantages here is the on-site car-park. It’s in the front courtyard and gets locked at night so it’s very secure. However there is only room for a limited number of cars so if you want to make sure you get a spot, reserve it at the time of booking (€10 per night).
Our room was pretty with nice decoration and French doors that opened onto a Juliet-style balcony. The room was clean, the bed was comfy and there was enough space to put our suitcases to the side. The bathroom was simple but clean. It had a bath/shower arrangement where you stood in the bath to use the shower but the hot water was good and strong.
Wifi worked fine and there’s a lift (which we were very pleased to see as you often don’t get a lift in smaller hotels like this). The only things missing were tea/coffee making facilities and no a/c (although a fan was provided and we could open the balcony doors for better air flow).
The hotel was very reasonably priced. Breakfast was available at an extra cost but we wasn’t included in our booking. We had the buffet style breakfast one morning in the cellar dining room, which we enjoyed. There was a decent range that included cereals, breads, croissants and pastries, as well as cold meats, cheeses, and boiled eggs.
Staff were very welcoming and friendly, particularly the owner/manager who answered messages promptly and gave me good instructions for arriving at the hotel. He also let us put a bottle of local crémant in the fridge each day so that we had a nice cold bottle for a pre-dinner drink.

Staff really let this hotel down

I never normally write negative reviews but....I booked the hotel and messaged to book car park which acknowledged by a named member of staff in January. Also requested room with shower (not over bath) Again confirmed. Did either happen, of course not. A man rushed out shouting did you book via booking.com if you did no parking. I explained and showed him the message on the app from Mr Wenger confirming parking. Also completely dismissed that a stanalone shower was also confirmed and then proceeded to be less than truthful & said it was booking.com employee answering messages in the app but if you check employees linked to the hotel, yes Mr Wenger. Apparently only if you book direct and do not use booking.com can you book a car parking space or be messaged truthfully. Would not recommend using this hotel as being told to go find your on parking, no help offered is not what I would expect and the shower request was so an elderly person did no slip when getting into a bath.

Great location and a historic building

A lovely historic building in great location for walking around the city. We had a double room and a twin, both were spacious and comfy. An actual bath with the double room! Breakfast in the cool cellar had the usual array of tasty pastries etc. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Definitely book a space in the courtyard car park: it’s tiny but he managed to get everyone organised in order of who was leaving first in the morning!

A well located 2 star hotel option

A short walk to the station and a short walk to the rue Colbert restaurants & bars / Cathedral and Loire river makes this a well positioned small hotel . The service was friendly . the room was small and climbing into the bath for a shower not easy . Accessing our wardrobe needed some manoeuvring however on the plus side open windows on to the ' mini balcony ' and car park away from the road was helpful in the hot weather . We opted for the breakfast in the basement and enjoyed what was offered . There are some pleasant seats outside the front door and a cold drink can be ordered to have there. It is 2 star but well located .
