2nd pleasant mini stay at the hotel, with a direct view of the pond (room 212)
The entire staff contributed to our complete satisfaction during our 2nd stay at this hotel, 'Le Caballin.'
The highlight of this establishment is undoubtedly its warm and available team, a real plus for the quality of the stay.
My wife and I would like to give a special mention to SARAH for her kindness, good humor, and especially her professionalism.
Management can be proud to have this strong link in its team, named SARAH!

Bad experience - Pay close attention to the room you book
I was looking for a room to visit Colmar and its surroundings during the Christmas period and I booked at the Hotel Caballin, attracted by the photos published on Booking, which showed nice and welcoming environments. The price, though high, seemed justified by the images.
The reality was completely different. Upon arrival I was told that I had booked a “cheap room”, the one indicated as suitable for two people. Too bad the room was in very bad condition, clearly not renovated.
The bathroom was indecent: the shower didn’t even have the dish and the water drained directly to the floor through a sump, flooding everything after each use. The general conditions were such that they were unacceptable.
The biggest problem, however, was the cold. The room was freezing, despite it being around -4°C outside. We were forced to stay dressed even inside and, despite this, it was still cold. The temperature difference was obvious: in the restaurant and in the “upper” rooms the heat worked perfectly, while in our room it did not.
The staff proved virtually non-existent. After reporting the problems several times, nothing was done to fix them and we were only given nonsensical excuses, making us feel mocked.
I prefer not to comment on the attitude of the owner, given the total lack of seriousness shown.
The room conditions do not correspond in any way to the photos on the hotel website or Booking: it was impossible to understand what we were really booking. We paid a sum that in Italy would be enough for an excellent 4-star hotel in cities like Milan, certainly not for such a structure.
Reading other reviews we talk about “views of the pond” and a “secluded area” as if they were strengths, but personally I found nothing special. With the same money, in Italy it is much better, with a welcome of a different level.

Disappointment at the restaurant
Very nice setting
Correct service
I chose a calf's head from the menu.
It came straight out of the freezer.
Mashed vegetables
As for the meat, it was nearly inedible, tough, just skin.

La qualité que vous décrivez pour la tête de veau ne correspond absolument pas à nos standards habituels, et nous en sommes navrés. A very special stay for a solo traveler which didn’t break the bank
This started with (as a solo traveler) trying to find the most cost effective accommodation I could as I was meeting my parents for the weekend whilst they had a stop during a week boat trip following the rhine.
The best decision I made. Not only were the staff so helpful, professional and welcoming when I arrived very early Saturday morning. The lady allowed me to check in straight away.
The room- beautiful, the view across the water to watch the swans and other birds and access to the balcony was just incredible. The quality and simplicity of the room. Coffee, beautiful teas - reusable cups.
Beautiful bed linen and extremely comfortable.
It was a treat to stay somewhere like this. Felt luxurious and very special.
Breakfast- take it! bio products, calm and beautiful views. Again , the space was very enjoyable to be in.

Highly recommended
Hotel in a charming setting that alone is worth five stars. Spacious rooms with a large and comfortable bed, beautiful and well-kept, all with private balconies overlooking a basin created by the river, minibar, kettle and coffee maker; modern, clean and anything but small bathrooms. At night there would be almost absolute silence if it were not for the ventilation of the bathroom that could annoy but you get used to it early. Breakfast buffet (sweet and savoury) very rich: excellent loaves of bread and fresh fruit, homemade strawberry jam and variety of teas and herbal teas. Friendly and helpful staff. The wi-fi connection is not always optimal and it is a shame that the ground floor (on the side overlooking the river) and the back of the structure appear a bit neglected (weeds and cobwebs). We were really sorry to leave for how well we enjoyed it and hope to return soon.
