Wonderful memories of the atlantic hotel.

Went to this marvellous hotel every november for 17 years. It was well loved by the English people. In its heyday, the entertainment was wonderful. Food was good with very friendly staff. James (pool attendant) is still there and we go back to see him every year. Unfortunately, there are not many guests there now as none of the u.k. tour operators are offering this hotel. COME ON ATLANTIC HOTEL, RESTORE IT TO ITS FORMER GLORY AND CLEAN UP THE BEACH AND GET IT BACK ON OFFER.

Sad experience - underwelming

The location of the hotel (built in 1960 under British supervision) is beautiful with a great, clean pool. Personell is friendly.
The hotel considers itself to be a 5-star hotel, in our opinion it deserves maximum 3 stars.
We paid 110 euro for 1 night in the low season - this is too expensive for what you get.
Some feedback:
1) No hot water in the rooms. When asking it in the evening they said a technician is checking it. This is probably all he did as the next morning we still didnt have warm water. Later we learned that they didnt want to put the boiler on (too expensive)
2) 50% of the menu was not available
3) The hotel has been painted white recently, not only the walls but also windows, frames, insight of the pool (cleaning the brush i guess)
4) Bathroom is very small and narrow
5) Sun beds are nice, but no mattrass - super hard to lie on (remember they consider themselves to be 5 stars...)
6) All 3 clocks in the reception had a different time (how difficult it is to put them on time)
7) Breakfast is ok but very simple
8) The tuna salad didnt have any vinegar of so - good ingredients but all very dry
The new GM cannot be blamed for all, but this hotel needs a strict hand in putting the dots on the i. There are a zillion things needing improvement before this can be even a 4-star hotel.
Example of a 5-star hotel is: Ngala Lodge - better go there and near by Banjul.

No longer 4 star and disappointing

Poor condition and inadequate service
Stayed few days , hotel empty , rooms /hotel are way past their best
Toilet had to be repaired before use
Breakfast is dreadful and when I ordered a breakfast box , it just did not turn up before leaving
Hotel is useful if you are visiting government offices as it right in the centre of them but if I was a tourist , there is nothing there
May have been 4 stars when opened
Staff were however very friendly

atlantic hotel

We came by here for lunch only (didn't stay in the rooms here). The property was expansive and spacious. The pool was gorgeous, and there is plenty of beach space to relax at. The food here was delicious, and the service from the staff was very attentive and on point.

Definitely NOT worth it

This hotel might have been a 4 star in the 70's - not anymore. BUT, they certainly charge 4star prices - and it is not worth it. Stayed for 2 weeks - no menu and the food you do get is below par and you wait +/- an hour for it. No aircon and no electricity for days in suite and despite repeated requests to fix, I was ignored. Insist to be paid tens of thousands GMD in cash - machine not working is the reason. Waiters upset because I do not want to go for a 'walk on the beach with him'. Staff simply walk in using their master keys without knocking - really felt unsafe. I will definitely not recommend this hotel.
